Recruit Minthara
Hi,

I wanted to recruit Minthara, knocked her out, killed hobgoblin and continued on to act two as normal. Anyway, go to retrieve Minthara before approaching Moonrise Towers and she has disappeared. What did I do wrong?

Thanks,

Aaron

AFAIK if you kill the hobgolblin, she's always aggro anyway (even in act 2). But you need to provide more details. What else did you do?If you helped the tieflings, knocking her out makes her count as dead. You have to leave her alive and just go to the mountain pass if you are trying to avoid personally raiding the Grove.

So, I just kill the other two leaders and leave her alone and continue on straight to the mountain pass?

I think you can only kill Gut.

I don't know for sure, but when I was doing this, I read killing the hobgoblin results in her being permanently aggro in act 2.

So, 'knocking her out' is a bad thing.
More information is needed.

What were your intentions?
You did not say 'why' you wanted to recruit her. Believe me, it matters.

Minthara will not be in the second act in any of the cases where you take aggro in the goblin camp.
Dr.Fumetastic Nov 13, 2023 @ 3:15am
Larian fixed the bug where you could recruit both her and Halsin. I believe there was a different weird exploit if you polymorph and charm her, though I don't know if that was fixed aswell.

All goblins will aggro once all three leaders are dead/knocked out. You can kill Dror Ragzlin without aggroing the camp, although it's a bit tricky.

Sounds like OP was trying for the neutral route where you dont raid the grove. You also cant complete the kill the goblin leaders. However the tieflings is a loss as they were tossed out, and Halsin will be a loss as well. Means no second upgrade for Karlach.

While you can keep Wyll and Karlach as you didnt initiate hostilities, but the goblins will be considered the winners. But Minthara will be recruitable in Moonrise.

You give up too much still, Minthara is not worth it.

Minthara is just a nice bonus if you want to play as an evil. I dont think it matters that you lose like 5 characters permanently if you go full evil route, its just consequences. Can play game again to get the others.

I'd call it very tricky. I killed anyone who could see into the room, locked the door with arcane lock, destroyed any and all drums, and yet still everyone was aggro afterwards. I've also read accounts of people doing far more clever things with them still being aggro. So even if you can manage it somehow (how?), the majority of people will aggro the camp on killing Dror.

Did you hit her before or after you engaged in any other hostilities and/or talked to Halsin in the prison? In short, the key is she has to be flagged as "temporarily hostile" when you knock her out for her to respawn. Best bet is to go straight to her and attack her straight away with non lethal attacks. Then you can take out the rest of the camp and its quests. Note, if you long rest before you finish taking out the leaders, she will respawn and still be considered "alive" but won't interact. You can still knock her back out safely at this point and have to do so to get credit for taking out all of the leaders.

An unconscious NPC will die after you take a long rest. From what you stated, she is dead in this campaign.

There are simple and complex ways to ensure Minthara is in Act 2. When you want to salvage some of the things that can occur as result, that is when timing events becomes important.

Not entirely true about unconcious npcs.
For example Durges might want to knock out Alfira to save her from her demise at their hand, to ensure she is a questgiver in act2.

Ive had to KO Alfira 3 times in a row between long rests before the Durge scene with her replacement finally played, because other stuff was queued up first.

I thought this was fixed by Larian?

Is this still working on patch 4?

Im new to this game, but I understood is that the only way to keep Minthara is to side with the goblins against the Grove. So you basically have to completely ignore then "kill goblin leaders" quest (obviously, since Minthara is one of them)

Of course, I could be talking out of my ass.

You can still KO alfira to ensure she will survive the tender loving care of the durge, whom goes for the dragonborn bard instead with cold and clammy fingers.
