Wielding the Minotaur Greatclub "legally"

As the description says, "The Minotaur Greatclub cannot be used by Humanoids." Before I go through a bunch of effort to try it out, has anyone tried wielding the club while using the Gloves of the Automaton's Circuitry Interface ability? It makes you a construct, therefore, not a humanoid, therefore you should be able to use the club. But my assumption is that the game isn't actually checking for things like your humanoid or construct status so that's why I figure it's worth the ask here first before I waste time on the thought.

unfortunately todays patch litteraly vanished this greatclub from my inventory right before i went to act2
