I have also once just ran into the Drider party walking around. Not sure what triggered that, but I just attacked them and took the lantern.
It is also possible (if you move quickly enough) to just dash to the safety of Moonlight Towers, and then you can get a moonlantern there.
The Spider's Lyre - you can have two of these. One way or another it can be obtained from Minthara and/or Neer. Using it at the Absolutist's camp near the Mountain Pass summons the Drider (who has a working Moonlantern) - options at this point do as you will.
The Last Light Inn route I believe requires you to gain the favor of Jaheira (might be possible another way), who sets the Harper's to discover how the Absolutist's navigate the Shadow Curse (Ambush quest). But, after certain events within the Last Light Inn the Caravan may be encountered traveling to Moonrise.
IF you managed to create the situation where those are not available, there is always a working Moonlantern inside Balthasar's Study inside Moonrise Towers 9which is also a safe haven from the Curse). You just have to get there. The most optimal route i can think of would be jumping into the dock area of Moonrise Towers located in the southwestern portion of the lesser cursed area.
Hope this info works.
I haven't been to Moonrise Towers in my own game, so I'll leave that as an emergency alternative. (I'd prefer to avoid spoilers.)
Thanks!
If you have not messed up the Last Light In Harpers story line, you should get an option to ambush the Drider and party. In this case, the Harpers will NOT take the Moonlantern when it drops.
Multi-Player is a morass if the players are not in sync. You might want to consider starting a different campaign just for playing with your friend and then only play that campaign together. :)
Good Luck
That's what we're doing. We play co-op in the game she's running, but I've got my own, separate single-playing game (which is about at the same place in the game).
We haven't had time to play the past few days, but I'm hoping we'll be able to ambush the drider. Thanks.
