Can't dual wield longswords?
I reclassed Karlach as a fighter and picked Dual Wield for her level 4 feat. She can't equip a second longsword. It's the highest damage weapon my party has extras of.

The in-game description of Dual Wield says you can dual wield non-heavy weapons. Is there a list of heavy weapons? I've found a few on various websites and they don't include the longsword.

oh mate. This is because Larian didn't add non-light weapons to that little window they added recently when you click the off-hand slot to see the available options.

Just grab your second sword and drag it on to the slot ;)

What weapons are they? Might be related to the specific weapons.

A longsword is a versatile weapon meaning it works as a two handed weapon when you don't have a shield. You should be able equip two to in tabletop rules but maybe the versatile feature overrides that in the game.

You can dual wield two quarterstaves which is versatile weapons.

So i want to know what particular weapons he is talking about.

I think it's just a generic act 1 longsword that I have a couple of. The sword isn't green or blue and it doesn't have any magical effects. I'm not very far into the game and haven't entered the mountain pass or underdark yet.

Longsword
4~13 Damage
Versatile
1d10 (1d8)+3 Slashing
Proficiency with this weapon type unlocks: Pommel Strike, Lacerate, & Rush Attack
"A common sword passed between hands both fresh and battle-scarred."
Longsword Versatile

You should be able to dual wield longswords with the Dual Wielder feat.

I wonder if you are trying to put the second longsword in the right slot?

That's what she said! :steamhappy:

For BG3 purposes since they removed the "Heavy" property, the weapons you can't dual wield at all are only the ones with "Two handed".

You should be able to dual wield longswords, you must be overlooking something else.

Maybe they're not longswords, and you're trying to equip Greatswords ?

If you lost an arm, that may explain why you can't carry 2 weapons.

don't you need the dual wielder feat or a "light" weapon in your 2nd hand to dual wield?

There's a "Main hand - Melee" slot and an "Off Hand - Melee" slot.

My dual wield Karlach can equip shortswords in both slots. She can equip a longsword main and an off hand shortsword. She can't put a longsword in each, despite having two longswords in inventory.

That's helpful to know. Thanks.

If she equips a two-handed greatsword in the main slot, then the game shows a ghost image of the greatsword in the off hand slot to indicate that weapon occupies both slots simultaneously. The main hand longsword doesn't show any such ghost image in the off hand slot, and an offhand short sword can be equipped simultaneously with a main hand longsword. And she does have two longswords in inventory.

does she have the dual wielder feat? what i mean is it listed on her character sheet?

You are not usually able to wield a shortsword offhand with a mainhand Longsword, so that means your dual wield feat is being applied.
Therefore 2 longswords should work as well. Can you tell the name of the swords you are trying to equip ?
