Enough Space on hard-drive , but cant install new update

I have 70 Gb free space , Update requires 14gb , why can i not download the update? it says disk space is full

Generally, these updates require the full size of game, plus the full size of update, plus the size of the unpacked files before integrations, plus some temp space.

The install does not give the full total, unfortuanately.

Fortunately 1tb SSD are very affordable. I would just get another one and use Steam to transfer the current installation to it. Then it should update just fine. :)

There was something stupid with this patch that it needed like 120G of space. I've not seen that happen for this game before, nor any other games really.

The key here is all the old patches were merged together into the primary pak files. The update does not delete the old files until it has updated. A pain for those who do not have the space to install the game twice. At least when it completes it deletes all the old files.

I've been moving/uninstalling games to free up space to update bg3. The ssd that the game and steam are installed on now has 302GB free space yet steam still says Not Enough Free Disk Space. What the hell? Is my install messed up or is steam just being stupid?

This new update is 96 GB. I've spent 35 hours this week trying to download it as it has reset the download many times....
This was too frustrating. I gave up and uninstalled the game
I guess i'll just have to reinstall it clean sometime down the line

You should always leave %20 free space on your HDD or SSD, below this and you get performance issues and could lead to corruption of files
