Druid Klarrvox (spoiler)
So there's this dragonborn druid called Klarvox in the Lower City, trying to heal a tree. Is there a way to revive the tree? Its trunk is red but it's not like a proper target, you can only target it with certain spells and it can't be examined.

I tried a few obvious things (water, daylight, plant growth, etc.) none of them worked. I even tried to attack it, but that did nothing, either.

I wonder, can a dragonborn avatar talk to Klarrvox? Or more specifically, a dragonborn druid?

Also, he murmurs something about Chauntea, I wonder if that's a cleric subclass? Maybe such an avatar could help him?

Have you tried using Halsin to talk to Klarvox? He's not a dragonborn but maybe something will pop up as he is a druid? I know the NPC you're talking about but I've also wondered this. I was a Paladin at the time and didn't bother to investigate further.

I tried with both Halsin and Jaheira, nothing.

Presumably he's just there as a background detail like all the other chattering NPCs in the city.

That's what I figured but I'm always so suspicious. :meepmad:

I always thought it was story flavor to make you check out the creepy house next door. I was hoping the tree would have improved after cleaning it out, but alas.

Same, no luck with Halsin. I refuse to accept that it's just background chatter xD
Why would they bother with making the trunk targetable, then? I don't think I've seen any other tree like that.

And he's going on so much about Chauntea (?) and how he's trying to heal the tree... This has become my main quest now, screw the elder brain xD

Can you be a cleric of Chauntea? Maybe a Remove Curse spell or something will work?

Most likely was for that reason. Would still be pretty neat if you could help the tree as a druid though. There's already so much I haven't seen that I'm content with this just being a sick tree lol

Respec your character as cleric lol. I'm of the same mindset but it comes from playing tabletop dnd, everything has a purpose unless it's on purpose to be purposeless. I don't even know if that made sense but I hope you know what I mean

The plot thickens. Turns out there's no Chauntea deity option for clerics.

In Forgottem Realms lore "Chauntea was the Faerunian goddess of life and bounty, who viewed herself as the embodiment of all things agrarian. The Earthmother was seen as the tamer parallel of Silvanus, the Forest Father of druidry and wilderness, as she was the deity of agriculture and plant cultivation."

Negative on both questions. Lesser/Greater resto, remove curse, etc, will not work, and Chauntea is not a Cleric option.

I just have to chalk this one up as an incomplete quest, something that got dropped late in development (presumably for time, I don't think some major sidequest arc got tabled over one tree).

I just tried the Potion of Vitality; no luck.

The goddess Chauntea was murdered in one of the very earliest Forgotten Realms novels; I'm not sure what it was called, or if it's canon anymore.

A cleric of Chauntea is called…..a Druid.

It makes me a little angry that druids talk all the time about Silvanus but Chauntea, the mother of the world, LITERALLY the first goddess of nature and perhaps one of the kindest goddesses, is ignored. This Druid is my brother! He understands! It's more from now on in my dnd campaigns I'm going to include it and damn it will be a quest!
