Astarion is kind of a d**k to my resisting Durge Tav **SPOILERS**
This is my first run through as a Durge and I'm going the resist route. Astarion is Tav's romance partner because I'd heard there was so much more/richer dialogue when playing that way.

So, after lots of exiting run-up and prep, Tav defeats Orin and refuses Bhaal, perishes at Bhaal's command and gets resurrected by Withers.

After the whole scene, Tav goes around and talks to the companions who were all pretty mild about what just happened, but generally supportive of Tav making the "right" choice (I thought it would be a little more of a "wow, amazing!" moment but whatever--just another day, another defeated god *yawn*).

Tav goes to Astarion, hoping for some really heartfelt lines, and he calls what just happened "twee"! Twee?! I could be wrong, but I think twee means "cutesy" or similar. He looks bored as heck and, depending on which response I choose, ranges from a barely decent "yes, yes, I saw your sweet heart all along" to "I have to rinse the disgusting sap from my throat from pretending to care that you care" to (basically) "whatever, let's move on."

I might be investing too much emotion into the game, it's true. My expectations may have been too high. It's on me that I thought the great love that helped save Astarion from following Cazador's footsteps barely two long rests before and seemed to mean so much to him after that would warrant a teensy bit more in the way of supportive dialogue.

Is this the work of patch 4? Was this bland, disappointing reaction to defeating Bhaal and overcoming Tav's monstrous tendencies always like this? I seem to remember YouTube videos that showed more emotion from the companions, but Astarion's reactions were unexpectedly callous and left me really cold. Like, "get the heck outta my camp or get a stake through the heart" cold. Should I have done something differently?

Also, his kisses at camp are bogus and broken. He always looks bored and/or disgusted, even when using his "best" lines. Thank goodness for Halsin, or my poor Tav would die of a broken heart, lol!

Hmm. In my playthrough I did not die to Orin and I don't think he said anything like that afterwards. As far as I can remember, no one said anything about it and the game just continued as though I'd never been Durge. I found it underwhelming.

The kissing stuff is definitely due to the patch.

Yes, my Tav beat Orin in the duel but was afterward taken out by Bhaal himself after refusing to become the Chosen. I swear the companions were happier about getting the owlbear cub in camp than seeing their good friend, fearless leader and former bloodthirsty killer, overcome their demons!

Oh, and just in case it matters, all of the companions are at exceptional/90+ with Tav (except Minsc, who's only very high/70-80ish).

Okay I completely forgot this happened, but now you mention it ... Anyway, maybe I didn't talk to them then, or I forgot that as well, or they legit didn't say anything leading to me forgetting the entire thing, What I do remember is that I still had the option to flex about killing Isobel to Wyll right up to the very end of the game.

Anyway, I found this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmL7LdgIj-g

Judging by the comments, he does not always say this.

Thanks for finding that! It kind of sounds like Larian used Ascended Astarion dialogue for Non-ascended too, making Astarion come off as cold. I swear there was better dialogue available pre-patch. Oh well, guess I'll just have to put this one on the back burner until the next patch comes out. :-) I'll see if I can find a less broken love interest for my next Tav.

Yeah, it sounds like ascended Astarion for sure.
