What would a non-woke BG3 look like?
I'm thinking:

1. Karlach is a dude.
2. Haslim likes the ladies, and is less of a sleepy bore.
3. There are more male guard captains. And more male faction leaders.
4. Some gnomes are hetero.
5. Some same sex partners are unhappy.
6. Dame isn't so godamn annoying with her relationship.

Additional thoughts?

She doesn't have any coping skills, and as far as I understand not much interaction in hell between being ordered around and sent to kill things. Maybe some sex here and there? She wasn't a general, so she didnt need a cool head. Just had to go and kill. The result is an emotionally stunted woman who just got her freedom, and is coming to grips with the fact it may very well be short lived so she'll try to live it to her best. Thats what I got from her storyline

I don't have a psychology degree, but it doesn't work from a dramatic stand point because it doesn't create empathy nor any interesting conflict.

Compare her to great female characters who either lack self control or have deep trauma:

Camellia, from P:WotR, is a psycho. A full blown psycho. She asks you to have sex over people she just murdered. That's how you create a nynphomaniac worth remembering. Also, her lack of self control could and should lead to some conflict to make it both believable and interesting. If you dig deeper into her story, and the game kinda leads you to believe there is a root cause, there is none - that's just who she is.

P:WotR also has a character who could be used as a good example or a traumatized child: Ember. The girl was immolated by inquisitors and is a complete pacifist (who end up in all kinds of trouble because she refuses to see evil and believes everyone can be redeemed).

In PoE there's a great, more dramatic and serious character : Grieving Mother. She is a psychic (called Cypher in that game)and afraid she would be accused of the hollowborne crysis (the main event in that game, children being born without souls and endind up in what we would call vegetative state) used her powers to convince mothers their babies were normal, but end up causing a mother to not care for herself, just the baby, so that woman starve to death and she has to run from the city and join the main character.

In a much more recent example, Songbird from CP2077:Shadow Liberty is an awesome, traumatized female too, but I'll not spoil it here because the expansion is somewhat new.

Trauma can end up being a lot less interesting IRL, someone might, dunno, just not like avocados, but this is a videogame and all companions have over the top stories and "being horny because she lost her youth in hell" is really a huge missed opportunity imho.

I didn't read her as "horny due to missed youth", which seems quite reactive

I read her as someone who doesn't know how to process emotions beyond upbeat without turning into a raging ball of fire. In Faerun, she realized she could both overheat and die quickly, or die over time. I see her as a character who got betrayed and heavily traumatized, with no chance to grow up in a violent environment. Who chooses to try to be upbeat and keep going until the end because she's finally free. She can do what she wants, without being constantly threatened. Which is why she refuses to go back unless you convince her and either join her or have Wyll join

Well, I guess it MIGHT be ok if the game gave us moments where she went from upbeat to furious and bloodthirsty, but other than the scene when she joins you (completely missable BTW, I just recently discovered she would do anything special there because I usually killed the paladins by myself and returned to her). She could AT LEAST change completely when in the presence of demons and devils, Raphael and Mizora give her opportunity and she - guess what - just act mildly annoyed.

I think either she is THAT shallow as a character or someone got cold feet from creating a character that people would call bipolar and cause bad internet mojo for them.
Honestly the game great but the rainbow diversity can be a bit excessive, I even wonder how gnomes even procreate in this D&D world. Most of this IS forced, but most of this can easily be avoided in the relationship bits by simply adding a relationship preferance in character creation if you prefer male, female, any or none and brush by the rest.

I'm just happy I dodge the bullet and had relations with angry sex Laziel and romantic shadowheart and my friend got stuck with Wyll and the Illithid because he chose the friendly not to let them down options because just wanted to be friends options in our two play through. :)

And stop with the "Oh you are one of them" remarks ... the fact is most of us are Heterosexual and we like to have choices and avoid uncomfortable and awkward encounters or clear options to friend zone them.

Oh she absolutely does have a handful of moments. I remember when she saw Gortash, I believe you actually had to make a save to ensure she doesnt start a fight? She shows a violent distrust towards fiends, and it'd make sense why she doesnt want to lash out too harshly. If she hurts a high ranker like Raphael, or someone like Mizora. Someone might try to drag her back. Like Raphael or Mizora. Which at those points in the story she doesnt want to

And I think this is the really nice thing. We both have very different readings of the character, and thats dope as ♥♥♥♥

it mightve actually been a good game, but we get what we get

Yeah thats why it only got like. Five sales

Totally hasnt been top seller for a while or anything

I think it's still a great game and an outstanding value proposition for 60 bucks without microtransaction. That doesn't mean it's perfect tough.

Oh, I remember Aerie lol. Complete with a baby you could shuffle around in your bag while you play inventory tetris

Have you noticed nobody ever copied that idea?

Dragon Age: Origins, love it as much as I do. Had a similar plot if you played as a male where you had to impregnate Morrigan to, get the next prince or some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥? It was weird

Heard. It's really weird when a man and woman do the thing they're supposed to do and the thing that naturally happens after that, happens. SO weird dude totally not normal.

and that matters because? Still pales in comparison to minecraft, guess it might not have been a flop if they had made everything look like legos

Ah yes, Minecraft. Well known for it's roleplay mechanics, it's storyline, and multi class system...

Pregnancy is normal irl. However, it's really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ weird when the only way to keep your character alive is by getting your companion impregnated. Thats just some weird ♥♥♥♥ there
It might have had fewer whiny people parroting words they heard on Fox News that don't actually have a real definition?

yup, plenty of rp servers in minecraft. Its real shame Larian cant even make a game on par with the legendary Wii Sports, since sales = quality

God I love typing /me does action so much in Minecraft roleplay. Or pretending the bucket of milk is something else

You got some weird ass standards but, at least they're present so good job? Go have fun in the Minecraft hunger games RP

weird standards? What do you mean, it sold millions more than Bg3, so its a better game. Remember sales = quality

Totally nothing to do with longevity and a different experience. And also it's the Wii, everything on it is a banger

But you do you pookie :)

im glad you agree with me :)
Maybe larian will try harder next time to make a better product

Oh I disagree with the standards and comparisons don't get me wrong, but Wii games are bangin 100%

But you're entitled to your opinion
what a flaming dumpster of an individual to start this lmfao

Why not go back and play the last 20 years of games with boring big booba female love interests that just magically fall in love with you and jacked meathead cavemen protags with no personality besides "OOGA BOOGA I AM MAN" or shocked grunts? To boil BG3's companions down to "woke rubbish" is incredibly disingenuous, or else OP is a remedial english flunky with no concept of literary analysis. And I'm not even implying depth to the characters yet, you just really have to be that dense to miss so much.
