Can you get weapon proficiency by multi-classing into a class?
I planned a Bard/Paladin build using a 2H sword. But I started as a Bard, and I just found I cannot use 2H swords. Will I be able to use them once I multi-class into Paladin?

This chart on the wiki shows what you get from each multiclass class: https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Classes#Multiclassing

so yes paladin gives all weapon proficiencies.

Yes you'll get all of the Pally proficiencies except Heavy Armor (dunno really why..) , so respec to Pally first then Bard, ut's the same but with the added profiency !
Same for barbarians rogues sorcs etc that multiclass into Fighter or Paladin

To get Hvy Armor prof, yes you have to.
You don't lose anything in Bard anyway by taking it first or later

Yes and no, but that doesn't matter since you can simply pay a visit to Withers when you want to bring in Paladin levels and respec starting with a pally level first. Voila heavy armour prof etc.

Guys, I am trying to get greatsword proficiency, not heavy armour proficiency! ;) As for respec at Withers, I am committed to a non-respec playthrough.

In that case your question was answered in the 1st post.

Thank you; I somehow initially missed your post!

Thanks; for some reason I missed that post, and the second post was the first one I read!
