Anyways just after writing this I realized I can re-roll stuff with Inspiration, something I had totally forgotten about because I like to savescum instead, lol. That meant I got 4 tries to avoid it per re-load instead of 1, and I did eventually manage to resist. Close call, but at least I can keep my beautiful eyes and my skincare routine wasn't wasted.
Accepting the astral tadpole unlocks the final ring of powers and theres some pretty good ones among them. Like flying or freecast, or mental bastion. Which allows you to interchangeably mix actions and bonus actions. Or Displacer beast transformation.
The only 'drawback' is a graphic change with black lines on your character, which is completely irrelevant to me.
If I start wearing a helmet I'll probably get over the visual changes quickly but right now I prefer looking at my glorious dwarven beard without the diseased aesthetic.
Ah....perhaps you might not be aware of this?
If you as the player takes the seat in the Zaitsk in the Gith stronghold and succeed all 3 saving throws. you get a -very- special perk. Namely that all Illithid powers now only costs a bonus action to activate, instead of an action. I think that one is a gamechanger.
Though ive heard blabber that if Lae-zel takes the seat and manages all 3 saving throws, she gains said power. However, the player can supposedly absorb the same power from the blown up Zaitsk.
Ah I ignored that machine because I wanted to go with Omeluum for my Parasite problem, didn't trust the Githyanki. Also, I may have kinda annihilated literally everyone in that temple on sight.
So you went all murder hobo on the Gith who have been fighting to save the realms from Illithid ever since breaking free from being their slaves, and preferred to trust an outlaw member of the enemy species.
Did that make you miss out on the entire, enter the astral prism and meet the person you dream about inside protecting you?
You should have had an option to crush it if you so desired. I've had that on every run I have done regardless of using or not using the powers and tadpole upgrades.
You can go to pretty much everyone with your parasite problem, btw. No one can fix it, its sorta the entire driving force behind your character in the world thru end of game.
