Players have different game versions

It seems i have a higher version than my friends. I'm the only person who has 4.1.1.39 version after this update. I also can't open a guide to limit compatibility risks.

Unfortunately yes. For unknown reasons someone at Larian Studios pushed another update out yesterday or so. But only for Windows. There is a trick to make cross play work by telliong the game you have the same version. Either that or make a rollback copy.

The trick I am not fond of, but you can find it with forums search, I guess.

Personally I keep recommending:
if you play multiplayer, always make a copy of the game version you play together, so you can bypass updates and mods issues

Alternatively, you can roll the Windows version back using steam depots.
And a tip for future: disable automatic updates on any game - it's just a bad idea. "Newer" does not equal "better". Seeing how much stuff this "patch" broke I'm not regretting for one second I haven't updated yet. You can launch the game outside steam so there's no reason to keep it up to date.

I found this for Mac users

1. On the main Larian launcher on a Mac, go to the Support tab (on the top left).
2. Click on the "Open Installation"
3. A Finder window will open with the exact location mentioned by Kshamr above. You follow the instructions:

Hey guys, I have termporary solution !!! Player with mac could change version number in local files. Just enter the same version number as your partner have.

path to file:
/Users/[YOU_USER_HEARE]/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Baldurs Gate 3/Baldur's Gate 3.app (tap right button and choose "show package content") /Contents
File name:
Info.plist
Open this by some text editor

In this file you should find:
<key>CFBundleVersion</key>

Change
<string>4.1.1.3882084</string>
to
<string>4.1.1.3905231</string>

saved file! It may not save the first time. Launch the game, see the version. If it hasn't changed, change it again in the file and save again

5. [optional] Repeat after me: Please game, believe your mirror image. Accept it. Everything starts with acceptance.

TL:DR; Changing it from 1.0 to 4.1.1.... won't help. You need to get the correct BG3.app and correct Info.plist file.

автобусиха is correct, except the number appears twice in that file. you need to change both of them

Hey, tried the recommend fix, re-writing the version number in the info.plist txt file. That seems to have worked! Version numbers says it's updated. But I have another issue now - once I updated the version number, I had to re-launch the whole game and its asking me to create a game profile again. When I try and create a profile I get a "Failed to save profile" error. And I need an active profile in order to join multiplayer.
Anyone run into this issue? It's killing me :( Can't join up with my friends

You should not use something which can corrupt your savegame anyroads.

Freeze the game version / rollback to do so.
