Mac OS and patch 4

Hi

After installing patch 4 for BG3 on Mac OS I get a black screen after the NVIDIA Gameworks splash screen. Only the BG 3 game cursor is visible and can be moved around. The game isn’t frozen as far as the terminal is concerned but the only way to shut it down is to use the force quit application key combo. I tried deleting the game and re-installing it but the issue persists. Has anyone yet faced this?

Any possible solutions?

Having the same problem. Tried everything to fix it. I haver restarted my computer, uninstalled and installed the game, turning off in game overlay, turning off steam cloud, and verifying the game's files. Idk what to do anymore..

Same issue on an M1 Mac Mini in Act 3. Unplayable FPS with the settings I was getting 30-40 fps with pre-update.

Same problem here. M1 Macbook Pro, running Sonoma 14.0. I've tried turning off iCloud sync, turning off Wifi, uninstalling and reinstalling, loading independently through the game files to bypass Steam...nothing worked. Just keep getting the black screen with the cursor.

Larian please help!!

guys ı found my own solution ,I hope it will work for you all , first of all open baldurs gate launcher through steam then settings to support and select open profile folder. from there open PlayerProfile>Public>SaveGames>Story. Now in here select all documents and right click then download all now , it will download or upload all of them after that close launcher and open game again. İt worked for me I hope it will so for you guys

Can't do any of that if the launcher always crashes on open. :)

Well I tried this. It didn't make a difference. I'm stuck on the black screen with my curser after the Larian and Nvidia logo. Last try I waited over 5 minutes, finally got the "press any button to continue" then it froze. Trying again! I hope this gets fixed soon!

Edit: Well tried a second time and same thing, crashed on the "press any button" screen :(

This. This fixed it for me. I haven't been able to play BG3 for a month or so: it would take twenty minutes to get to the main menu then crash. And since the latest update I got the black screen.

You absolutely can do this without the access to the launcher: just go to:

/Users/[YOUR NAME]/Documents/Larian Studios/Baldur's Gate 3/PlayerProfiles/Public

...and make sure your iCloud is sync'd.

I share what sounds like a similar problem with my Mac Studio with M1 Ultra. I noticed yesterday that Java Edition Minecraft won't display graphics if BG3 is running, and so I quit BG3, and now BG3 won't display game graphics. The load screen comes up, the spinning cursor works, the hand cursor works, all sound is operating, the game loads, but I can't see i t- just a black screen where any motion graphics would appear, including the main screen graphics showing the party entering the Baal Temple - black screen. None of the suggestions in this thread seem to cure this issue. I am not syncing my Docs folder to iCloud, so that's not even in the mix. Just no game graphics, and it started yesterday when I ran Minecraft for the first time in several years.

As for the other listed issues - unsynced audio (for me this is extreme enough that most narrator audio just doesn't happen - I can see the narration text, but no voice), moire patterns on character faces and bodies during cutscenes, etc. are things I experience as well, and yes, many of these have either cropped up or become worse under the latest big patch.

This game is a ton of fun, but this is the sort of thing that causes me to eventually just delete a game and forget it exists.

In case it matters, the version I'm running is 4.1.1.3956130

Yup! Turned off the wifi and the game started working! I loaded one of my older saves and a warning that the save was corrupted came up but when I played it, it seemed fine. Still, its probably best to just get a new save. Also this issue happened to me after downloading some mods, I deleted them before knowing to turn off wifi but it might be connected
