Mac OS and patch 4

Hi

After installing patch 4 for BG3 on Mac OS I get a black screen after the NVIDIA Gameworks splash screen. Only the BG 3 game cursor is visible and can be moved around. The game isn’t frozen as far as the terminal is concerned but the only way to shut it down is to use the force quit application key combo. I tried deleting the game and re-installing it but the issue persists. Has anyone yet faced this?

Any possible solutions?

I'm just stuck in the Verifying "Baldur's Gate 3" window with the bar fully blue and the BG3 icon is no longer hopping on my dock....it's been this way for 10 minutes. I restarted my computer, restarted STEAM...nothing. And I'm running on an M2...

I had the same issue. After a while I checked to see if the game had finished loading and then everything went back to normal. You just have to wait a little.

Patch 4 broke the script extender, so no mods for me, i don't know what else it broke

Tried DisgustingDust’s suggestion, and it worked this morning but now simply crashes my MacBook Pro, as it did when I was running it from Steam. Very frustrating, and I’m out of ideas.

Same here. Can't run the game through Steam or independently. Hangs and crashes my MacBook Pro every time. None of Larian's suggestions work.

I found the reason, it's a matter of iCloud Drive sync, since the Larian Studios directory, where saving files are stored it's by default in /documents, that's in sync.
I noticed that when BG3 launch is stuck on the black screen, iCloud Drive is downloading a file that keeps growing in dimension. That file's something il Larian studios directory.

I tried to disconnect wifi and play offline and it works, the Main menu appears and you can load your local saving file.

Is it a Sonoma issue? What OS are you all running?

I'm on patch 4 running a Macbook Pro 2021 M1, OS13.4.1 (Ventura). 16gb ram. Game is running like a champ. It actually loads faster off my external SSD than it does on my gaming PC. The graphics aren't as good as my Windows machine, but it runs pretty good for a two year old laptop. I get 45 fps until act 3 where I get around 30-35 fps. Fan runs like crazy and she heats up, but I'm impressed how well it runs on Mac.

Turn off Icloud synching. I bet it is copying docs to your documents folder in the cloud and on your local drive. This can drive many programs batty.

The other solution, instead to play offline is disable iCloud drive for desktop and /documents directory. I can't find a way to move the Larian studios directory

Well the last thing I did and it seems to work, is to sync your local Larian Studios directory using Right Click on the folder and choose download now. Do this before running BG3. It worked for me.
