No Kiss animation and mean Astarion???

I'm romancing Astarion on one save and Karlach on another. Neither of them have kiss animations now. Also, I asked Astarion for a kiss and he said "If you must." if that's a new patch update, I don't like it. He was really sweet and in love with me, this makes it sound like a chore. I hope they fix this, I'd hate for this to break the game for me after 200 hours put into it.

Pretty sure the no kiss animation is caused by a mod, someone said they disabled all their mods and it fixed. Not sure about mean Astarion though, he was still sweet to me.

Probably one of the most minor, inconsequential things in the game...;) Why would something as trivial "break" the game for you? BG3 is not some paperback romance...;)

Yeah there is a weird behavior with the kiss animation, and actually only this.
Someone also tried to deactivate ALL mods, even Mod Fixer, and kiss animation was working again. Then, as long as he activated ANY mod, kiss animation was broken.. very weird

There were also some new dialogue apparently recorded for kiss-scene responses and some are reporting them not playing OR being desynched from lip movement. This is probably why MODS are breaking the scenes further.

If you're modded, it has a high possibility to be breaking it- but it is not the only reason. New stuff added to game = break mods. Practice safe manual updating if you don't want your game broken while you wait for mods to update. BIG PATCH BOMBS like these break a LOT of little things and there IS a hotfix already underway to definitely address another major issue (followers not following after a certain point).

Your save is hopefully not compromised, but removing mods midplay could have impacts that will. This is why I made a big ol' PSA on if you're a mod addict, stop letting your game update automatically. :P At least if you did that you could still play til your mods were properly updated for the new patch.. duh.

I do have mods on, but they're honestly nothing big or important. I've turned them off and it's still bugged for me. :/ I'm sure it's all mods, but the mods I was using weren't anything significant imo? Like, clothing mods and such. That's about it.

It might be a problem with mods that use Mod Fixer. Basket of Equipment uses it, if that's what you're using for clothing. Have to wait for a Mod Fixer update. I tried disabling mods that use the Mod Fixer but it made my game crash, probably cause I'm still wearing clothes from the basket. I think I rather just wait for an update, don't want to remove my stuff lol.

Oh and I saw people say some new lines were added for the kiss scenes, but they're not working properly, I think that one might be just game bug.

Astarion keeps it real, he doesn’t give a ♥♥♥♥ about you, he is with you because he needs you and so kissing you is a chore.

The guy have literally lived hundreds of years and was a sex slave, being used to hook up with random people and lure them into becoming spawns. I am pretty sure at this point his relationship with you is just another fling until he ascends , after which he will be free to bang whoever he wants and he won’t need your sensitive whiny arse anyways

i have the same problem TvT

i reported my issues to Larian and really hope theyll fix it... cuz i am just here for the romance lol. My mods work perfectly fine but since this update its just... not good at all with the quests and cutscenes. Hecc, i cant even trigger his normal love confession cuz Raphael just nopes out of the game after telling me to go kill yurgir, while Astarion is in my party. I ca tell him "I've met Raphael - i know you are looking for him" where he then acts all surprised as if he wasnt in my team... When i talk to yurgir Astarion just says "Well, we dont owe this devil anything". Raphael doesnt show up in camp to tell him the meaning of his scars. The journal says "Raphael just left without helping us. We have to face Cazador to get answers". The kiss scene doesnt trigger, dialogue doesnt play if you ask if you could kiss him. I also get the "If you must" but without any sound. The only sentence with sound is "How could i say no". ITS SO FRUSTRATING AAAAH

I'll start another playthrough without any mods just to see if it really just is a mod or even all of them. If nothing changes... well then i wont play this game until this is fixed lol

I was having this same issue. I ended up deleting all my mods (including mod fixer and improved UI) and it worked? But not sure how its gonna go for my other save file that uses all the mods.

I don't use any mods and the kiss is bugged for me as well. His sentence is cut randomly in half and after I get unvoiced "if you must" or "not found" and then the animation is a half second peck (I read somewhere, that it is actually Gale's animation). And it doesn't fit with what he says after at all.
