It's pretty distracting especially during cutscenes.
Some beard textures were affected way more than others.
I guess I could use the magic mirror to shave it off until they fix it but I'm kinda used to the way my character looks by now.
I cannot confirm that bug. But if it is like that, that it affects your old savegame, but not your new savegame, you should be able to easily check with respec/magic mirror as it would reload the beard for the affected character.
In the meanwhile I question if affected players did properly cleanup their levelcache and settings before/after patching.
This is a great idea actually - maybe shave it off, save changes, and then "grow" it back via Mirror again. This could work (sry I can't check it now myself).
Or try this:

There is no way to know, because there are just too many variables. The bug could be caused by something entirely different in the code. I´m also just guessing tbh but in a game this complex there are a million things that could go wrong after a patch of this size.
I know just as little as you do, I only wanted to show that this bug doesn´t seem to appear when you start a fresh game just like the shadowheart "not following" bug and who knows what else could be affected as well.
I know it sucks, but it is really a good idea for everyone to delete old savefiles and start a new game. It isn´t not a guarantee for no bugs at all but it reduces the likelyhood for issues that didn´t pop up when the devs tested their own patch.
btw I didn´t clean my cache or settings though what I did is verifying my local gamefiles after downlading the patch which is something everyone should do after downloading such a massive update. It is a good way to make sure that there are no corrupted files.
Infact steam has downloaded two files when I verifyed my local gamefiles so I assume these files that got replaced must have been corrupted.
Shorter beards were the ones hit the most so it looks like some specific texture files or alpha maps got messed up.
New chraracters also have the same issue.
I did follow all the steps about deleting certain files in local folders as recommended in the support page by larian and it did not help. File integrity is also ok.
I really don't want to reinstall the entire game and find out it din't help...
Yes my character has the standard duergar beard

this one
Which is why I didn´t notice the issue. Thanks for the clarification.
Anisotropic filtering setting is broken in new patch, issue will not only affect beards but also textures at steep angles.
You can also wait for Larian to fix it
Hope they get around to fixing it at some point though.
Meh. I cannot reproduce the issue anyroads since the game update routine of mine addresses such before they can occur. Unless someone missed out on the update routine it can be anything, but in general nothing DDU cannot resolve. And by the current reports it seems that is on point.
Dang that was a terrible joke.
It still managed to get a chuckle out of me.
