It also doesn't make sense that there are Bhaalspawn in BG3, since apparently they inherit it from Sarevok. However when Sarevok was resurrected he lost his divine essence (which passed to Bhaal) and was just a normal human, i.e. not a Bhaalspawn anymore. Even the WotC lore indicates that Viekang and Abdel Adrian were the only Bhaalspawn left and their death was the subject of the Murder in Baldur's Gate module.
Ultimately, the reason is gameplay trumps continuity/lore. No one wants their character restricted even if those restrictions make sense for the plot.
