Can you break your alliance with Gortash?

*Spoiler* When I arrived at Baldur's gate and saw Gortash I followed the {Cleric} line and now I'm in a alliance with Gortash .

But I just killed a bunch of his Black hands for placing bombs in kids toys. I'm reconsidering that alliance, can I break it or try to kill him before hand?

I don't want to hand him Orin's Netherstone.

You can but if you are a paladin you will break your oath

Yeah, you can. The alliance is pretty much him trusting you until you ♥♥♥♥ it up. Here are two ways to do it :
Blow up the Steel Watch Foundry
Get into the Iron Throne and get the gnomes out
Or you can just show up and start pounding on him, I guess.
