In co-op, how does the game handles the story, decisions and relationships?
I got the game but haven't played it yet because I think it may be a good game to play with my partner in split-screen co-op, but I'm a bit fuzy on how that experience will be like.

Namely, how does the story progress with two people? Do we have to vote on decisions that progress the story? Are relationships tracked independently? Is one of the players the protagonist of the story in cutscenes and whatnot, and the other is more of a sidekick? Which of us picks party members?

EDIT: No spoilers, please.

-whoever speaks to an npc or in case of triggering cutscene by just walking up to them is closest to them is the one making decisions - others player can choose to view the cutscene and vote on what to say but just to show their opinion, they can't force the speaking one
-for romance, from what I've read, approval is tracked for each player separately, and you can't both romance the same companion
-you're both equal party members, you switch npc party members by walking up to them and telling them to follow you or stay in camp - any player can do that and I think the one telling them to come will be the one to control them in battle (but I think you can change that by grouping them with players)

I would recommend searching the Net for a guide on BG3 Multi-Player. Get some complete info as you ask for a lot of typing here.

Note that you can start separate campaigns just by making differently named characters. So you can be playing one with your partner and have one solo for yourself.

Good Luck and have fun!

IMHO , this is the game best played in pure single player mode.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
