Is the Mark of the Absolute beneficial in any way?
I'm in a new playthrough and I accidentally clicked "attack" instead of "examine" on one of the goblins, so they all started attacking and I just rolled with it. Afterwards I realised I never got the chance to speak to Priestess Gut and get the Mark of the Absolute branded on the crew before the fight happened. I picked up the branding tool, but I can't seem to use it on myself.

Apart from not being able to fully use some of the loot in-game, that requires the wearer to carry the Mark, is there any other benefits to having it? Is it worth going back 2 hrs to an older save file just to get this?

Just means you have more options to speak to absolute followers, But you have a downside of being branded.

I never realised. What is the downside?

There are some items that have extra effects too, but it feels like shooting yourself in the foot overall. Not that I've done it - that's why I don't. xD

Nothing too major, just some disadvantages during certain conversations.
Edit. plus, people will notice you are branded if they know about the cults, and dislike them

False Maglubiyet is the true god
there are many items with descriptions like "If you bear the mark of the absolute, gain..."

Other than the items, it offers dialogue choices with relatively low skill checks to pass (compared to other options) at certain points. But otherwise no other benefits and also no downsides. It’s definitely nice to have and I would recommend it - but not game changing enough to roll back 2 hours imo, unless most of those two hours was spent aimlessly.

Yeah it’s honestly not that much. It’s unlikely you’d have more than 1 or two of these items on your character. Personally I love the gloves of power, and the amulet with advantage on death saving throws pairs nicely with loviatar’s love boon.

But outside the early game these items quickly get overshadowed by much better gear anyway.
