Is there a pragmatic way to kill sleeping enemies?
As opposed to making a giant leap with a dagger for (sometimes) miniscule damage. Like, you know, slitting their throats?

There are sleeping enemies in the game?

Rogue with sneak attack
Barbarian reckless attack
Multiple characters in multiplayer melee attacking at the same time

You already get bonuses to hit and advantage on prone enemy

That is exactly what I was talking about in the original post. Sneak attack is a giant ass leap with a dagger taht still rolls and can do almost no damage which makes 0 sense

drunk goblins and other enemies in the goblin camp, also creatures that have been put to sleep with a spell

An attempt to kill someone in their sleep could conceivably backfire, so it seems perfectly realistic to me. Some people are light sleepers, have really fast reflexes, or both.

My pragmatic way is to 1 shot them with whoever my top killer is.
Works every time.

Never used sleep spell though

But really there are like 3 NPCs that are sleeping in the entire game. As the game doesn’t have day/ night cycle, you always play during day when everyone is awake

"There's one goblin left? I cast fireball. Upcast to 5th level. TWINNED!"

Put them down down in the river

Don't even get me started on sneak anims.

Because of the animation the ranged sneak attack has a different arc than normally so you can hit a target normally from a spot but also be unable to sneak attack them. It's silly.

Make a huge slash with a twohander or hammer them down.
