Drow character has sunlight sensitivity
started a new save as a drow and noticed one of the racial features was sunlight sensitivity which is a pain. but from what i can find that's not supposed to be a thing on drow player characters and from what i can see none of my mods should be adding it. anyone know what mod might be adding it or if it's somehow supposed to be there even tho it's not on any of the wikis for the game?

well no one can tell you what mod if any is doing it... that's on you to find out on your own cos your the only one with access to files.:)

But i can tell you for sure that in unmodded game there is no such sunlight sensitivity on drows.

This sounds like a nonsensical thing to mod into the game, since even Astarion is not sensitive to sunlight.

To be fair, only reason Astarion is not sensitive is the tadpole. It's actually a rather major plot point for his character.

And the same would apply to your Tav/Durge, would it not? I have played the game btw - so I know it's a plot point.

to be fair if we play as the drow, we also have a tadpole, so it would also protect us...

Astarion and Tav in that case would be sensitive to sunlight for very different reasons.

But in any case, this is clearly something caused by a mod, so I say take it up with the modder, not me.

It would make no sense whatsoever to have a character that literally burns to death in the sun to be immune while another who is just sensitive stays sensitive. Hence why I originally said it's a nonsensical thing to mod into the game, not to you personally btw.

@op Sounds like a mod that makes the game harder OR something that was in the game and scrapped which the mod broke? If the latter is the case, you probably have to a) read the comments on all the mods you installed and if that yields nowt, b) remove one after the other.

I played a Drow character and NPCs commented on the sunlight thing and said I was the chosen one.

Well, one is a vampire and would burn in the sun due to vampire curse.

The other is a Drow who cant see in the sun because they live in under-dark.

You could argue they are different and tadpole wouldn't stop you having overly sensitive to light eyes, whereas it would stop you from being affected by sun due to curse (vampire).

Just cause both are sensitive to sun doesn't mean they are the same

It blows my mind how people will go to lengths to rationalise stuff that's bad even when it's not actually in the game and OP has it by accident. *sigh*

Regardless of its in vanilla game or not, im just saying how it would make sense, atleast if it was 5e Drow. /shrug dont be mad.

Would of been cool to add, but since theres no dynamic day/night cycle it would be a pretty funny disadvantage, really put you in hell with RNG.

If you downloaded 5e race pack it would be that.
Check if you have keen senses, then i think its the fantastical mod iirc

The duergar npcs have sunlight sensitivity, use the sunlight spell on them. And they are not tadpoled.
Quacksalber Oct 10, 2023 @ 3:15am
Also @ OP, if you cannot fix it and if it's an effect you get as a symbol next to your pic, you could try to break it yourself.

My main character died, and when I resurrected him in camp, he'd lost all his permanent buffs. Maybe you can use that to your advantage, assuming it's something that happens to everyone.
Schlumpsha Oct 10, 2023 @ 3:22am
What was the mod that caused it? I'd be interested in having light sensitivity on my underdark characters.
