Adamantine Forge achievement was helpful
I gotta say I like the achievements in this game because they let me know when I did something the stupid and hard way. I opened the lava pipe to smelt some sweet adamantine gear when this ridiculously overpowered golem popped out. It had 300 hp (4x more than the second most powerful boss so far), immunity to almost everything, and godlike strength & constitution.

Did it occur to me to use the huge pneumatic hammer and anvil to bludgeon it into submission in the center of the forge ? Nope! I bought some ability drain illithid powers with these extra tadpoles I was carrying around for just such an emergency . Then I gradually drained it into oblivion while hexing it's strength and repeatedly knocking it prone into the lava with my battlemaster. It never got to attack anyone once other than my summoned imp. Then the achievement popped for killing it without the anvil and I was like "ohhhhh, that makes way more sense."

I like how even if I miss out on the obvious clues that I should be using the environment, the game still allows me to just go with the messiest form of violence to brute force my problems. I may have respec'ed Karlach into a second fighter, but the spirit of the barbarian still guides my party.

The funniest part is that I don't like the item I made so I think I'm going to reload the save from before the fight and do it again without putting a mold in first. I'm going to see if I can repeat the achievement or if it was a fluke.

Ah crap, I forgot to say something about LGBT+ content in order to provoke people to engage with the topic. Oh well, I guess everyone will have to make do with the other 99% of the posts in this forum.

The hammer doesn't help TOO much honestly. In tactician it takes two hammer strikes to kill it even superheated. If you need the hammer there's a good chance you cant beat it anyway, or will struggle hard to do it.

Same happened to me, in my first playthrough I also never used the hammer and got an achievement, and was like, what i could have used the hammer oO.
In the Second Playthrough on tactician (in act 3 at he moment) I tried using the hammer and it was harder, then I thought. Karlach and Laezael were wonderfull in positionig it, NOT. Some sacrifices helped in the end to get it to the middle :)
It was especially hard, since no one had blugding damage ...

I also didn't realise you could use the hammer - and got the achievement first playthru
