Romance options are dead

So I'm 141 hours in to my first run through, currently well along in Act 3 and for whatever reason all my romance options have been dead since Act 2. I have approval of all my crew but literally no romance options at all since Act 2.

I realize they warn you when you leave Act 1 that you might not be able to go back and finish certain quest lines but it isn't really made clear that you can't romance anyone later in the game if you didn't do X in the first act.

It seemed to happen when they realized their code was bugged and making everyone overly horny.

Can anyone explain what kills the romance options or is my play through just bugged?

I'm pretty sure that's not true, at least not for all companions. My husband got Wyll's dance scene and first kiss deep in Act 2

yeah, they should have been wrapped up then, you may get a minthara moment, and some convos, but you will not see much if any until the very end..

the romance stuff is just gratuitous fun anyway.

They really should have a "casual hookup" cutscene you can trigger with anyone who's already accepted your 'romance' scene.

In other words, you should be able to sleep with your girl/boyfriend whenever you want to.

I can't speak for any other companions but at least with Astarion, I slept with him on Act 1, then on Act 2 there's an scene where I can pretty much choose if I want to make the relationship with him official or stay as friends. I've seen people say that if they don't trigger that scene, on Act 3 the relationship ends and you can't romance him again. I don't know if the others are the same.

with him I'm not sure if his act 2 scenes trigger just if you have high enough approval with him or do you need to flirt with him when he's alone at the party... I didn't really keep an eye on his approval on my no romance playthrough so for his case we need someone else who didn't get his dance scene at all to confirm what makes him not pursue you

Glad to hear that, if the romance really dies after the first act, because "no one was groped" is great news. But it would be much better to remove this from the game altogether or make it possible to turn it off!

I appreciate everyone's feedback. I suppose I'm going to have to pay more attention on my next play through.

To me it's weird that they took the time to put all the romance content in, but then it is perma-nuked if you don't trigger certain cues in the first act.

Doesn't Act 3 have a brothel where you can go get endless sex scenes like GTA or did they chicken out and not even add it?

Have you asked for a kiss? Pretty sure everyone gives the same tiny little peck. ...it'd probably be the same for a 'casual hookup' request.

So.. Patched or DLC Extended Romances is what you're hoping for? Sleeping bag for two, Camp Cuddle toggles, the option to rent a room? Illithid Troll dream where they disguise themselves as your love interest?
