Spineshudder Amulet impossible to get now?
In my first run through the game, in which I did Act 2 a few patches / hotfixes ago, the Mimic at the top of Moonrise Towers dropped a few items on the ground beneath it rather than having them in its inventory, which I thought was odd at the time. One of these was the Spineshudder Amulet... which was bugged at the time because it didn't generate Reverberation the way it was meant to.

Apparently now the Reverberation issue has been fixed for the various items that can cause the effect.... except.... now the mimic doesn't drop anything, and the amulet isn't in its inventory any more.
So just where the hell is it?

I kinda wanted it since it is one of very few amulets in the game that aren't complete garbage. Most of the jewellery in the game is just "use this one spell you already have once per long rest". The ones with passive effects are far better, but there are precious few that are actually useful for a spellcaster (who doesn't exclusively use cantrips).

... I figured it out in the end, after a LOT of searching different sites and discussions.
Apparently I have to destroy the chest BEFORE it turns into a mimic, otherwise the amulet doesn't drop, because it drops from the chest and not the mimic that the chest is meant to be.

This game makes Skyrim look positively stable by comparison.

Just about that. You need to one-shot it. The item will drop on the ground when its dead.
Grab a smokepowder barrel, place it next to the mimic in stealth to avoid triggering it to reveal its mimicry form, than blast it with your strongest AOE. Preferably Fireball. Upcasted.

It's okay. As I said, I already learnt how to deal with it.
I climbed up the vine from the rafters below in turn-based stealth and used Silenced Disintegrate on it. Killed both chest and mimic in one action, and I got the amulet.
It only took me 4 tries to get the damned thing.
