Owl Bear Encounter

I'm a little disappointed you can't help or change the owlbear mothers mind in the cave. I used Speak with Animal, Calm Emotions, and Animal Friendship and even when they succeeded nothing changed. You should been able to befriend the owlbear or at the very least make it so it doesn't attack you.

You can absolutely do that. But then if you get near her nest she'll attack you. Don't go near the nest if you want to avoid killing her.

To be frank she did recently defend her cub from a merry band of ABSOLUTIST cultists who jammed a spear into her.
Plus if you approach her other egg well...she'll attack you anyway, even if you don't want to touch her egg, being near it enough is enough to trigger her.

I avoided combat with her just today. She doesn't like it if you touch her egg, though, as stated above. That happened on my last run, got too close, had to fight her anyway.

Either way, keeping her alive doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

For someone with a broken spear planted in her, I find her quite calm. at least you get a chance to back out.

this is 100% incorrect. her attitude literally DID change if you did these things. she did not attack you on sight, and literally explained your new boundaries... which you then violated obviously.

why does this thread even exist? it is a literal non issue.

Perhaps I wasn't detailed enough in my thread, my bad. When I use the word 'help' or 'befriend' these were options that weren't available in the encounter or didn't go anywhere. This is one of the very few critiques I have of the game overall. Giving dialogue choices that don't go anywhere is a little disappointing. This happens throughout the game. Why have the choice of offering to pull the spear out of her if it's never going to succeed. At least let me roll for it. Let's say I use Speak wit Animals, Calm Emotions, and Animal Friendship. They all work and I offer to take out the spear and heal her. Wouldn't it be nice to roll on that. I tell her that I have no desire to hurt her or her young and I convince her to let me go freely around the cave so I can loot the corpse she left. Roll. Maybe I can go as far as to even convince her to help attack the goblin Absolute cultists. Roll. I'd love to see an owl bear rip through goblins with me. I know that this game is fantastic. I love it. Just voicing an opinion. Is it dumb?
