Do gay people like how gay this game is?
I imagine that if i was gay, i would still want to get immersed in the world of this game, and i would find it a bit weird that all the companions are so upfront and quickly wants to sleep with you.

It's nice that everyone feels represented, but the game caters too much to the LGBT community to the point that it becomes immersion breaking, and if i was gay it would make me annoyed that the game goes out of its way to make me feel included instead of just presenting an immersive world with beliveable companions that for the most part would require some effort before i could romance.

The game at times feel like a really bad dating sim, that is so afraid of not seeming inclusive to a point where it ruins the believability of the character dynamics.

For me as a straight guy my sexuality means very little, but maybe if you are gay and a minority it becomes a bigger deal, and it's difficult for you to like characters and enjoy their company if they don't want to sleep with you?

I am just trying to understand and see things from a different perspective.

In my opinion I think Mass Effect and The Witcher handled romancing the best. In Mass Effect I remember it took three games before you could romance Tali and when it finally happened it felt super earned. The fact that all of the characters in Baldurs Gate 3 want to romance you regardless of race or sex is completely unrealistic and makes them seem a little less real and the fact that most characters want to romance you almost immediately makes the moment when you do romance them less earned. I honestly would have given the player minimal options in act 1 to romance anybody forcing you to develop a meaningful relationship first. And like the first two Baldurs Gate games, your race and gender should effect which characters want to be with you. By allowing you to romance anyone regardless of your race or gender, it actually trivializes sexual preferences that people actually have. Only a small minority of people who are bisexual and interested in having multiple partners can relate to the kind of romancing that happens in Baldurs Gate 3.

To boil it down, the romancing in Baldurs Gate 3 isn't relatable to most people.

My thoughts exactly. It felt like they were pushing their ideology, not presenting actual/interesting relationship options.

Nobody is pushing an ideology. Other games have done this, it's nothing new. All they're doing is making all the characters "romanceable" by everyone. That's it. If Gale hits on MY character, it's not 'gay', for instance.

Honestly, and I know I keep saying this but ... I have not once gotten stuck in a romance with a character I didn't actively make the decision to be in a romance with. Except for one time with Gale BEFORE his dialogue options were patched and, even then, I was able to break things off with him. Just learn to say no.

I get it. Some people's sense of sexuality is so fragile, the very IDEA of someone of the same sex hitting on them destroys them but, I promise, it's not that deep. It's not some big gay agenda to try to force everyone to be gay. No matter what all the pearl clutchers and rage baiters keep trying to say.

The main issue here, truly, is it's far TOO easy to get into a romance with the characters. They decide they want you very quickly. Very quickly. This has been addressed in interviews as being unintended. We'll see if they do anything to tone it down.

You are looking for offence where there is none.
YOur entire rant says you understand nothing and hate when you aren't the centre of the universe.

You try to frame your hate intellectually, but it doesn't change the fact that isn't on you to understand why gay options are there.

Man people are hilarious, I've been reading snippets while going through loading screens and all this "I'm not homophobic, but having homosexual relations with a character, and denying them and not furthering the dialogue is very immersion breaking! Yes I know there's a lot of other stuff going on and I can simply ignore it, which I am! It's just the ♥♥♥♥ is distracting and makes everything a big deal!!! Again, not phobic. Just don't want to see it in my game!" Is hilarious to me

Just like, deny the advances? Hell, you can play as an asexual I'm pretty sure. Though I wouldn't know because I want to romance all the origins. But I do think Withers does diss you at the end

Oh, it's one of those "Gonna take a minute before getting locked" threads.

They happen daily around here. Next thing you know, you'll be reading through and like half the posters will be banned. Then another one of the same, boring threads will pop up with the same soft, fragile whining.

And half the time, the OP doesn't even own the damn game.

And the other half, the OP is ranting about how much they hate the game, and agenda this, woke that. Meanwhile they've got like 400 hours in.

Yeah man, we can see how much you hated it.

You enjoy shallow writing, ok mate. Thanks for sharing.
If by shallow, you mean deep character and world building, then yes.

I would suggest that if a dude is so personally affected by the presence gay or playersexual characters, they are in fact incredibly sensitive and not very masculine at all.

Not in the romantic department. Perhaps you should pay attention to the topic of the thread a bit more?

I am listening at seems that there are a lot of gay people who don't really like the way this game handles romancing and LGBT representation.
Who?

Me.

Nah, if you fail to bring evidence to backup your claim then i will believe you are straight out lieying. Im not gonna search 6 pages just to find you were lieying. too much time wasted.

He's not lying, there are people who posted few pages ago.

Not all gay people think the same, we are not a hivemind. :P

My friend, who's also a lesbian, dislikes the playersexuality part of the game.

Yes we are, we must all serve the eldergay. :3

Just say no when they want to bang you.

It's not that hard.

Imagine saying that to #me2 victims lol

My takeaway from these threads is that a lot of people make mental notes every time they come across gay characters, thus at the end of their playthrough they talk about how many of them are there in the game, while others have no idea what they are talking about since they are not counting, not even subconsciously.

The best part about them is that you actually worked on the relationship. Each and every one of them felt organic. Even in Andromeda, I prefer those romances to this.

But wouldn't they get that most romances are straight, so from a worldbuilding and immersion stand point that makes the most sense.

That's not how it works. It is still immersion breaking because gays indulge in gay romance and straight romance doesn't matter to them ;)

Why can't you just ignore, when the game supposedly give option to reject, when LGBTs have constantly ignored all the straight romance being shoved down to their throats in most of the games till this date with NO option to reject?
Groo the one 8 OCT 2023 a las 3:31
Guess developers should have introduced the option to choose what kind of sexual orientation (or even none) a player controlled character does have, when creating or choosing one. So we wouldn't have those annoying discussions, again and again...

I do ignore it but why do have to ignore something like this in the first place? In most of the big RPG's you don't have to ignore straight or gay romances because it is not forced upon you.
