Pacifying a hostile animal, possible?

So I accidentally made a cow mad at me and all I want is to talk with it (Animal Speaking) but it just attacks. Any advice?

When you examine it, does it say "temporarily hostile"?

If so, you can knock it unconscious or flee combat, and when you come back it will be friendly again.

It's the cow in waukeen's rest or whatever right? If you're playing as a drow it will attack you on sight.

There is but then it makes them hostile to you once it wears off. Pretty pointless spell

I've tried "make friends" stuff with animals, but the moment the spell goes away; the are instantly angry again...

I wish I could make friends with the default pets of the bad people, too, but I guess not.
(Also, please.. make more cat companions... Not all cats are mean, not even most cats are)
