I cannot beat House of grief battle
All the video walkthroughs use AOE spells such as grease or ice spells. They work until darkness spells hit you and it is soon game over after that. They all say go to top of steps where it is the safest area but again when darkness hits you and the only mode of attack is melee it is soon game over

Chug a Hill Giant Strength potion and toss them into the abyss.

In a recent coop game I've been playing a throwmancer. We dimension door'ed to the top of the stairs and pulled back a little so they'd all gather at the bottom.

Then I threw the runebomb at them :D
10/10 results, would throw a runebomb again.

fr though, it can be an annoying fight. There's a ton of them and they love darkness + bonechill. Best strats are what you've mentioned; pull way back so they can't see/target you and deal from there.

Another time as sorc I used twinspell chain lightning- was perfect for that situation.

Well, I used a combination of myself (paladin) with Gale, Jahira, and ofc Shadowheart.

Sanctuary on SH herself so she avoids getting wolfed on.
Hasted Gale and Jaheira ice storming the crap outta the two enemy clusters
My pally on the boss lady to distract her
At most there's one moron casting Darkness, but if you've got someone who's immune to blind, kill em.
This fight was insanely hard until I figured out a strategy that made it incredibly easy.

Once the fight starts, immediately pull your entire party to the very top of the stairs. This creates a perfect chokepoint and all the enemies will funnel into it. Cast a wide Wall of Fire across the bottom of the steps, AoE the crap out of that area, and just keep smacking everyone on the stairs as they come.

Go about half way down the steps and hide with your archer. Pelt her with arrows and the minions don't react. Loot and scoot.

I straight up abused the hell out of globe of invulnerability. I cast it on myself and had Shadowheart, myself (gloom/thief) and Lazeal in it stepping out and killing one or two a turn.. then stepping back in it to heal.

Personally I run a bunch of AoE damag dealer (shadowheart as light cleric, my avatar as storm sorc/tempest cleric/evocation wizard, jaheira as throwing barbarian with nyrulyna, then gale as evocation wizard focusing on frost damage). The trash mob is cleared really fast and the tough mob I just hold person.

In other run where I have less AoE, I use a bunch of summons as meat shield (necromancy of thay ghouls, elementals, etc.)

Just retreat back while creating difficult terrain to slow down enemies from bunching up. Kill the mob when they are near the group. AI isn't as smart enough to attempt attack you at range and will dash instead. Dashing means they cannot attack you.

Focus the person casting the darkness until their concentration breaks.

Daylight dispels all darkness effects in it's radius, and illuminates to get rid of the "too dark" disadvantage on attack rolls for ranged. Odds are you have Shadowheart with you if you're going there, so prepare it and face-roll.

Slaughtered them with Tempest cleric 6/ Sorc 5/ wizzard 1 shadowhearth .

Made her precast haste on herself and my ranger,

Then quickened spell create water> free cast Chain Lightning on Viconia then Chain lightning on the group on one side - everyone died , then my ranger sniped what’s leftover and the rest of the group finished them

Dimension door didn't work for me as I tried it with Gale and Karlach - Gale moved but Karlach didn't

They still managed to darkness me from quite a distance (from side steps)

I will say on the base difficulty the fight is easy to cheese, but on tactician they will counter spell you to death.

Daylight never seemed to work. It always come up with not enough room and the minimal areas where I could cast it I tried casting it but it wouldn't cast
I used all the explosives i had for it (just placed them where raphael spawns and one bomb at each pillar to be sure) and that killed yurgir, all cambions and the pillar in turn 1. Then i had only raphael with 400 hp left and he was defeated by pure luck. Maybe i shouldn't have gone there at level 10.
