Baby Owlbear (Alternative Location to Cave and Goblin Camp)?

I know there are multiple posts on this, but I did not find my particulars.
The baby owlbear is no where to be found! Here is how I went about it.

1. Found the cub and mother in their cave. I spoke to mother using speak to animals and left cave.
2. Went to goblin camp. Located the owlbear cub. I was offered the chicken chase but did not partake. (I guess clicking on the running baby was too difficult for me to figure out). I tired to convince it to join me, it wanted goblins dead first.
3. I went inside the goblin building, and killed the three leaders and all goblins inside.
4. Many rests later...
5. I returned to goblin camp and killed the remaining goblins outside. The owlbear is nowhere to be found. I do hear what sound like screeches, that I swear is the cub. But cannot locate.

Does anyone know where the baby could be when all the goblins are dead? It was not around during any of my fights. I killed almost all outside goblins on the bridge and near the merchant. There is no dead body of the owlbear, I checked.

I noticed when I fought the goblins outside, the owlbear cub escaped the area on the first turn. It is a bit of a blink-and-you-miss-it moment.

Ok. Where would it have gone? I checked around the goblin camp, like behind the waterfall. Did it go across the river? Where could it be?

It didn't go anywhere.
It showed up at camp after a few long rests. Visited twice, then moved in on the 3rd scene.

EDIT: I had the owlbear cub come to camp during my FIRST full rest. Then Wyll came out of nowhere and scared it. Hopefully, its back, as expected.
