Having trouble with Grove battle defending it from goblins

They broke in the gate and there were just too many. I read a good way is to keep the gate protected so they can't break in right? Should I place oil barrels in front of it and protect the archers above? Any other ideas?

Go kill them in their fortress before they siege the grove in the first place.

Plenty of room for shenanigans too, you can kill several of the leaders with barrels or falls.

i dont even know how that triggers actaully XD i just go in and kill the leaders then clear the goblin camp for mad loot and xp, there is some really good stuff in there

- poison the goblins partying in the front of their base with invisibility to drop poison into their drink cauldron
- if you kill the black market vendor in the camp (after you rob the vendor blind of course) there is a pile of explosive barrels you can use to kill/mostly damage Dror and the goblins around him (you dont want to yeet them into chasms so you can get the ilithids)
- you can kill true soul gut with the aide of some speech checks
- you can also do something with freeing the spiders and animal speech to have them attack the goblins
- dont forget to free that 1 guy that was being captured and forced to sing, youll want him later, as well as halsin

after that the rest of the goblins aren't that hard to deal with, just use the environment to your advantage to break LOS and funnel them into kill boxes

edit: also accept the mark of the true soul, as it can help you as you go along

I honestly didn't even know there was a battle to defend the grove. Whenever I've sided with the tieflings and druids I've always wiped the goblins out at their camp, starting off with assassinating the priestess in that room.

I probably should have done that. I wasn't sure yet if I was going to help the Tieflings or Goblins then so I didn't do it. If I can't get past this battle I might reload a save from there.

Killing the leaders was a lot easier for me. You can kill the priestess very easily. She won't let your party in the room with her, but you can get around that by having them all enter stealth mode and she wont notice them. Kill her in a single turn and her death will go unnoticed.

I blew the big horn above the gate. At the start of the battle, Minthara is outside with the horde and she speaks telepathically to one of your characters to help her or not. You only get like 3 tiefling archers to help, it sucks. I thought I would have all the druids and tieflings help me but nope, they're nowhere to be found.

For that, Minthara must be aware of the location of the grove. The guy is a snitch i say.

Haha no that goblin Sazza told her. I helped her out of the grove thinking she would help me at the goblin camp. That was a mistake.

Go loot some powder/wine barrels. Place 10-20 of those around goblin spawn area and set it off with some fire spell when battle starts. If you have enough of them, nuke Minthara and spiders too.

Do I have to wipe out every goblin and all the leaders at their camp?

no just the leaders, after you kill all 3 goblin leaders it triggers the progression and the next phase of the chain to activate, regardless if you kill all the other goblins, they are just for xp

but when i killed Dror the way i did it caused all the other goblins at the camp to become hostile. Dunno if it was how i killed him or that he was the 3rd and final leader i killed, but you can teleport form anywhere so its not a big deal

Don't waste your time doing the battle. It's stupid AF. I go down by the cave and there are tieflings there with weapons and enemies are right in front of them and they do nothing. They're just props.

How does this happen? IN my game the Tieflings have left and the grove is still fine. Do you have to tell Minthara where it is?
