Personally, if you want a better implementation of 5e combat, I recommend Solasta.

I'm okay without these things. It would be a high degree of cheese.

Yea for a strategic combat system i sure did miss that ready action... So many actions wasted..

I miss Dodge and Ready action specifically, they are great strategic options that were not implemented for one reason or another. Here is hoping they will be added in later down the road, but not expecting it.

There are both in the game but they are fighter functions of battle master.

dodge is really helpful when fighting strong opponents.
also i miss initiative delay to a later number to perform combined actions.
It shouldnt be that difficult to implement

Ready Action would turn the action economy into movement cheese and every corner would become a win button.

I promise the moment the AI used ready action against the players people would be screaming about how "UNFAIR!" it is.

with this AI? highly unlikely lol it would probably kill itself with it if anything

sure would be funny, as are many things that AI does now, to die for funny.

Also if wealding a shield, you get the higher ac all the time, even if you change to a ranged weapon

Both dodge and ready are implemented in Solasta and they add quite a lot of tactical depth to the combat. They're also very simple to use. I'm sure Larian has tested them both extensively and have their reasons not to include them but still, I'm really missing them both in BG3.

I know, right?! I am really missing this feature too!

I've been asking that since Day 1 of EA. Never has been answered. Dodge is one of the basic actions. Why would they exclude it?

As stated above - Solasta implented both without an issue. You should be able to ready a melee, ranged or cantrip attack if an enemy comes in site or reach.

I second this. When it comes to combat, Solasta has VASTLY superior 5E implementation.

The Dodge action could have easily been done and it would have only improved the game in the process. But the Ready action is way too specific to actually be implemented. In case you're unaware, the Ready action only allows you to do one extremely specific action if and only if the extremely specified trigger occurs. In example, the Ready action may be you deciding IF this specific target enters this specific area, I cast this specific spell at them. Choosing which specific action to ready might be simple, but implementing an infinite list of entirely arbitrary potential triggers for a readied action may be effectively impossible. And I'd rather have them exclude something because it can't be done correctly than include a broken or unsatisfactory facsimile of it.
