Why can't our Guardian keep its female form?
There should be a toggle to let it remain its original form even after the big reveal. I liked it as a Drow female far more than as an Illithid aberration.

There should be an option to let the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ die right away and not get a game over screen for it.
So much for a roleplaying game.
BG3 feels like playing with a DM who flips the table because the players didn't act as expected.

You can always just pucture it as a drow. Also, IIRC, he offers to present himself as the guardian you know in one of the dialogue options.

tbf if my players slapped a very obviously mysterious/enigmatic/powerful NPC around it'd be ludicrous to think there would not be reprecussions.

I oddly like the male voice better considering the tone of the game so was not a issue for me oddly hive them set has human male more often then not, so the change in form did not shock me and oddly ended up matching the story quite well.

It's a monster that has been manipulating you. You are supposed to be annoyed.

And in the end its meant to impact your late game choices so role play being annoyed and use it!

Sometimes a roleplaying option means having the option to roleplay as a huge stubborn idiot who ignores all the warning signs and gets themselves killed, rather than reality warping to make that decision play nice.

Oh I'm fine with repercussions, just not an instant game over when people go "Turns out this guy manipulating us is not only using us as puppets, and CLEARLY lying about some things, but he's also a member of one of the most objectively evil races that exist, and he's standing right in front of us and we're actually able to kill him, so lets do exactly that"

The powers he was using to keep us from ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up weren't even his own, him stealing the powers is more reality warping than Orpheus saving our asses would be.

Because if you aren't into hentai you're either immature/secretly gay/bigoted. At least according to the forums.

Except that at that current moment, he's the only thing channelling Orpheus' power to keep you safe from the Absolute, who has been trying to Turn you for the entire game.

It makes sense that at that moment him dying and Orpheus breaking out would spell instant doom.

It's one of those unfortunate moments when what you want to do and what you SHOULD do cannot coexist at that exact moment.

I think that's the point. It adds to the feeling of "You jerk, you've been manipulating me the ENTIRE time, but THIS is actually the real you".

It's all supposed to feel uncomfortable and like a betrayal because it kiiiind of is.

I think the only good Maindflayer is Omeluum. That pr*ck of an Emperor, tries to manipulate the players from the start. And after the Ansur Dragon arc, it's pretty obvious what a lying ambicious tw*t he is. And the final cherry in the cake happens if you try to free Orpheus.

I thought about that at the time, but it became clear that Orpheus is not able to act freely like the Emperor sapping his power is. If he could then he would not be trapped in the first place.

A great plot-twist. I'd love the option to turn the tables on the critter and lock it in whatever clown-form you give. Or let it know it's to become a mind-wiped companion that will join your party as you see fit. Maybe a baggage donkey. See how it likes that. Withers can see to it.

Another slot or 5 to create custom companions that aren't mindflayers or possessed thralls would be a real banger too. Like my actual DnD crew.

Honestly - thanks god it reveals its form. A trap like that would otherwise forever destroy MCs willingness to have any sort of intimacy.
