Act 3 Spoilers. Can I save the Duke without Wyll?
Wyll left cause of the tieflings. I killed Gortash and ran out Wyrms Rock. The Duke was hostile but alive. What happens next? Anyone know if there’s a way to ‘save’ hîm

Could still try to reach the place where the Duke should move to after the coronation, but he might be stuck where he was left, since Gortash can't put the Duke into the prison.

Probably. You can save him if you break Wyll's pact, so I don't know why not, except that this game has a tendency to punish people for doing the "wrong" thing. Does he have the temporarily hostile status or properly hostile?

<<<<Spoiler alert especially in act 3>>> Saved him without Wyll. I didnt recruited Wyll in the early game (i only pick the 3 companions i want for the run). I played a "good but vicious" run with a charimastic rogue. Most of the time I allied myself with the evil guys just to betray them in the last moment and saved everyone. So during the coronation of Gortash, i allied myself with him in order to be able to slaugher Orin in peace. Then i betrayed Gortash. I did go to his secret prison and found the duke alive. I saved him, he was thankful and helped me in the end. i think this is way more complicated with Wyll in the party tho. Without him, the due is a very secondary character.

He’s properly hostile. The game somehow apart from punishing people for the wrong thing also ignores the wrong thing. Apparently according to Astarion and Laz we now have to kill Gortash for Orin. Umm… guys…

Interesting. Thank you! I have already killed Gortash though. I suppose I wait and see.

If you attack the coronation, the duke is hostile. He's tadpole controlled and there hasn't been any story preparation for what you'd need for him to regain any free will. So the problem isn't really that you don't have Wyll, it's that you did that.

Interesting. What do you need to do? I haven’t managed to free and tadpoled person yet and up to now the only solution to that problem suggested has been 1. Stick close to the Emperor and 2. Deal with the Elder Brain.

I do come close to the Duke with the device that protects us, but I didn’t have an option to get him added to the people the Emperor protects.

He’s still alive anyway and I’m hunting Orin.

yes you still can. even ignoring wyll story you still probably want to rescue the duke for final battle summons

If you don't recruit wyll at all then you can, BUT if you have wyll you need to trigger the contract related camp scene with mizora for DUKE TO BE TAGGED ALIVE by the game (if you break wyll contract/reveal daddy location). If you don't trigger the camp scene, duke is lying in blood pool dead when you reached iron throne because he's related to wyll companion quest.

Yeah it's pretty glitchy if you do stuff in the "wrong" order. I feel the main issue with Act 3 is the lack of guidance, which is fine, but then people can do too many things in too many different orders leading to all sorts of weird stuff happening because there is just so much going on. Even Act 1 can do weird things if you haven#t done stuff in the expected order. Hopefully the Orin glitch will be fixed by killing her.
