Gauntlet of Shar - Rats bugged

So I encountered some rats in the gauntlet of Shar. After killing two they called a truce (had animal speaking on). I killed them anyway and I saw a big rat running away with some smaller ones so I decided to follow them.

After going off a few cliffs I found an area with a summoning circle. The big rat doesn't go down though, he goes close to the last edge and then runs back, getting stuck in an infinite loop it seems. If I start killing rats in the arena, they just keep respawning.

I tried several "fixes".
1) I tried killing the small rats blocking the ledge for the big rat before he gets there but he just turns away
2) tried killing the big rat together with the small ones but when I go down the circle they keep respawning
3) tried following the big rat around but he just seems to get stuck in a loop
4) tried triggering the fight just as the big one is there but he still just ♥♥♥♥♥ off

Anyone encountered this issue and knows of a potential fix?

The one behind the statue right? Tried interacting with it, the effigy, lighting the candles, read the book (one becomes many) .... didn't work

That's no bug. That's you breaking the truce and the rats being rats.

read somewhere that the rat isn't infinite. So you can keep killing until they don't come out anymore

You can try blocking the spawning holes with random stuff from your inventory.

its part of something you can do in this dungeon. It sounds like you kicked it off without the related quest, which may have confused the logic or something. Try exploring more and coming back to this fight afterwards.

Yeah read some stuff about the quest the rats are involved in. I took out the other related party of the quest (dont wanne give spoilers) and the rats still seem to bug out. I might try to go for a few rounds and see if they keep respawning or not.

Yeah, no bug.

I'm not sure if you had to block the rat holes with garbage or just kill enough rats, but eventually something will happen.
