Because some of us chose a different response that Voss was able to figure out. I let LZ do the talking but mouthed to her to play along. Apparently she's a bad liar.
I wouldn’t feel bad about it. Most of the fights are hand placed to perfect detail by Larian to instantly put you into a disadvantage. First fight at Moonrise Tower comes to mind, where you spend 3 turns to crawl out of the pre-scripted Hunger of Hadar & Black Hole combo after having your first spell denied by CS to maybe get a chance to actually participate in the fight yourself. Just ended up placing a Cloud of Dagger and firing a Cloudkill into them before they had a chance to do their ‘you? No, no, die.’ “dialogue”.
Did the same in BG1 & 2 without feeling bad about it one second. I just don’t have 3 hours per fight to wait till enemies miss some crucial abilities.
i did something similar, but with no member back out of combat, and this is nothin unfair, what u are talking about? those ghit are damned raiders that are hunting the artifact, no matter what they are saying, all lies you will see
Oh I had this fight many times in Early Access.. By unfair I just mean, for the purpose of my roleplaying, leaving one member purposely out of combat doesnt sound right. However, when I ran there Leeroy Jenkins style, the gith always targeted Gale and almost always killed him. And because I dont want to waste resources, like Elixir of Vigilance to increase his initiative I decided to be done with the fight as quickly as possible. Noone is killing Gale, not under my watch. Thats all.
Dont think of it as intentionally leaving someone out of combat. Think of it as telling someone to stay and watch your back while you negotiate. How many movies or tv shows have you watched where the hero goes to talk with a group of people who may or may not be trustworthy but the hero has a backup like some of his friends watching his back from hiding or from high ground?
well, yes.. I kind of justified it to myself that Im protecting my crucial team member and based on our previous encounters with almost anyone in this map, there will be mayhem :)
I recommend setting down some powder barrels and then igniting them. Since it won't let you do it beforehand for this fight you will have to do it during the combat. It's ok if a party member or two dies if you respec Shadowheart to life spec cleric she can get them back up quick. Two of my party members died but we still managed to defeat this encounter. It's tough but doable!
