How do you adjust the item bar?

like, you can auto adjust the inventory in 1 of 4 ways, but the little space on your hotbar can't be auto-adjusted to fill in the gaps whenever you move or sell something?

You unlock your tool bar, you press K to access all your spells, abilities, items etc, you clear your tool bar, you then put all your spells, abilities items etc back in the order you want them i.e. organise them the the way you want, then you lock the tool bar again.

Everything that gets subsequently added will go on the end of what you have placed during this process.

If you change items, change equipment, respec your character, level up etc etc you will have to tidy up the tool bar. If a spell or ability is removed in the process the empty slot will be used by the next new thing and there's not really a lot Larian can do about that.

Everybody should do this because it transforms the experience in terms of QoL. Nobody does 'cos it takes a time/effort to set it up for the first time. Fortunately once you've done it properly the first time it's remarkably little effort to tidy up after changers since you've already got your system locked in your head and you just know "Yeah, this goes here and this goes there" etc without having to think about it.

yeah i usually do this for my spells and abilities tab, but my items dont get used as often so when i do use one i usually have to pull open the whole tab and look it bit by bit and theirs gaps from when i used 1 time items, and i was curious if there was a speedy way to remove those, but thanks for telling me that there isnt and that it just takes sometime to reorganize.

Put goodies in bags, add bags to bar.

soon, you will have more spells and abilities than you can shake a stick at, and you won't want items on your hotbar any more anyway. just use items straight from your inventory screen instead.
