However, I DID find a workaround. you can follow the trail behind the castle, climb up the trellis and ladders to the roof of the castle, open the door and sneak through the hallway to the door on your left, out onto the balcony with a cannon, and fly down to the platform with the little house on it next to the bridge. then from there, fly onto the bridge.
Voila, you have avoided all the soldiers in the fort. a bit more of a chore than it should be. There really should be just a waypoint on the north side of the bridge.
The waypoints on the fortress are deactivated until you clear the fortress by defeating everyone inside.
You can also go back to the prison after finishing with Ansur and start going up from there. There is a hidden passage from the prison to the wyrmway that you can use both ways.
