Good Luck :)
They can do it much better and easier.
If you still want to do a multiclassed bard, the most efficient multiclassing imo is bard (swords) 6/thief 4/fighter 2 and going for a dual-wielding hand crossbow build.
6 bard levels and swords archetype gives you a lot of bardic inspirations (5 per short rest or something like that, and you get 3 short rests/day as a bard), the ability to shoot someone twice per attack by expending one bardic inspiration dice and a second attack.
4 rogue levels and thief archetype gives you a second bonus action, which is quite useful overall. Technically you only need 3 rogue levels for that, the 4th is to get an ASI.
2 fighter levels gives you action surge and shield proficiency, which is basically a free +2 AC since you can freely swap to your melee weapon setup.
Two Warlock levels so you get the most of Eldritch Blast and use it as your main mode of attack and go for Lore Bard.
One Storm Sorcerer level for Tempestuous Magic and a few useful spells like Shield and Magic Missile which Bards don't get. Being able to fly after casting a spell (not a cantrip) and get away without triggering opportunity attacks can be useful.
One Tempest Cleric level (Tymora for flavour) and the rest as Bard for Martial Weapons, Heavy Armour and Shield proficiencies and some spells like Guidance and Command which Bards don't usually get.
Heavy armor, extra attack + blade pact which works off charisma and paladin smites
Alternatively Warlock 5/Eldritch Knight 7, EK spells and action surge, and they can really milk eldritch blast and attacking as well. When you use a cantrip, you can make a weapon attack with a bonus attack.
Bards can be whatever they want to be.
They have access to an extra attack, they get full spell casting and they get skills. Basically they get everything and some stuff that other classes don't get on top of that.
It doesn't really matter for only two levels. I honestly do not remember what I picked, since I knew that the character I was playing would eventually break it. Coincidentally, Oathbreaker is the best, at least at that level.
You can absolutely do it, though.
Warlock 5 / Bard 7 can make an absolutely great spellblade, while having a ton of versatility too.
