Which spells is it best to use with?

-- AoE spells don't work with it
-- Stuff like Witch bolt fails because the second bolt removes concentration from the first
-- Cantrips are pointless since on level 5 they get a second charge anyways and it doesn't stack with twin spell at all

So what are the best spells for it?

Chromatic Orb and Disintegrate.

Also you can twincast spells from scrolls.

Thunder Chromatic Orb does 3d8 damage at lvl 2.

Haste.

With haste, yould potentially get 5 Disintegrate casts off in one turn.
2x twinned Disintegrate and 1x Quickened Disintegrate.

Buffs primarily. Main one being haste.

The later Blight is a necromantic single target nuke that you can twin as well. Covering an elemental not offered by Chromatic Orb or force from Disintegrate.

Edit: Oh yes, forgot to mention that you can twin cast haste as well, covering yourself and another ally.

Well, I stay level 2 till stepping into the Grove (and maybe killing that assassin bugbear). And level 3..4 just doesn't need it if I don't want to push the envelope and jump into fights underleveled.

So I'm more interested at what is it best for on level 5+, of course considering the opportunity cost, like "I could've used that fireball there". And I don't consider spell slots as that big of a restriction since it's easy to rest after each and every fight on Tactician and still be swimming in camp supplies.

Twinned and Quickened is what really drives the blaster power of a sorcerer, the pressure they can put out is so very high.

You can bypass it. There is an exe somewhere in the installation folder than launches the game directly.

Because it requires a target it can be Twin Cast.
