Save Shadowheast parents with her dead, not possible?

Shadowheart has been dead since act 1, I just didn;t resurrect her and now it isn't even an option anymore with withers. (I'm fine with that)
But now in act 3, I come to the place where her parents are held prisoner and there seems to be now way to free them, other than killing them. Companions comment something like "don't harm them, they may be important"
Is there still a way to free them? It seems weird they are still held prisoner with shadowheart dead.

I reckon the companions say that because they have not been programmed to know she is dead and just think she's at camp.

I doubt it. They are spiritually linked to Shadowheart. On the flipside, there is no reason to fight Viconia absent Shadowheart.

I don’t think it’s possible to save them no matter what. Even if Shadowheart was alive, she would agree to end their suffering. The parents would be happy to see her so everyone gets closure but if she’s dead, it’s best to end it
