Going full on murder hobo here is very rewarding ( and not just because you get to kill the snooty frog people ) some of the best items in the game is found on the various NPCs here.
Though it seems a recent patch has made it so when you kill the quarter master you only get the two epics - so if you want get eg. unseen menace you will have to be cautious in your wanton destruction
1- from my understanding, the creche is about progressing lae'zel's story. it's her belief that the creche will cure you that takes you there in the first place. i scoured the first act pretty good and only had her companion quest leading me there. so no, i don't think there are other quests you need to do first. if you've talked to everyone, searched everything, did the vlaakith encounter, and grabbed the egg, i think you're done. i chose not to kill everyone though, as i didn't want to kill that gith youth that didn't like fighting and was interested in heretical ideas, lol. so i just killed who i needed to for me to leave.
2- as far as i know, if you don't give that lady the egg, you can sell it later in act 3 to the society of brilliance yourself, or what ever they are called, for 1000 gold. so far i don't think we can hatch it ourselves or do anything else with it.
also, if you happen to still have the owlbear egg, you can convince the old lady to take that instead of the gith egg. not sure if anything comes of that, though.
If you survive the chair and make all the roles illithid powers become usable as bonus actions instead of actions.
lol nvm. i just remembered i didn't actually succeed all the rolls. so next playthrough maybe.
It was 15 int save, 15 wis save, 18 con save for me this playthrough ( didn't go in on the first ) and I had to burn my inspiration to make the last roll.
All for a passive ability the is only useful if you plan on compounding your worm problem by adding to it.
Mechanically it doesn't make sense, RP wise you might just be desperate enough to try to get rid of the worm using the machine. the downsides of a failed roll are pretty massive though and can't be undone - so have bless and bardic inspiration handy :P
Only the one in the chair gets it.
i can attest to that. i let her sit in the chair and some of the saves were 30.
