Shadowheart's name *Act 3 Spoiler*
Am i the only that believes Shadowheart should of adopted her original name out if respect of her own Parents especially after choosing the mercy option. It seems pretty obvious that her Parents wanted that to be her use name throughout the whole scene but it seems Shadowheart completely missed the mark. Even after brining it up to her she insisted on keeping the name even after what Shar has done to her.

I understand later she said that she doesn't deserve the name and had to lookup how to spell it but i feel like that's just really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ excuses. She also made the excuse that the Shar name still suits her like what the hell do you mean.

Maybe i'm missing something but i feel like there should of been an dialog option to able convince her option to use her actually birth given name but again maybe i'm wrong here.

Just felt like this rubbed the wrong way on me and wanted to vent a little to see if anybody else shares my opinion.

She's had the name Shadowheart for most of her life and has gone through her spiritual journey with it. I like that she doesn't jump to her given name because she doesn't know who that person is yet.

If you did a redemptive run of Shadowheart, her original name as Zin pointed out is not who she is, Shadowheart as a sharran was who she was for a long while but just like her spiritual redemption, she choose to also redeem the name Shadowheart but with a different contextual meaning. Shadowheart name as a sharran was to show her devotion to the lady of the dark, and meant to be how cults tend to superimpose names and identities on folks to usurp previous identities and affiliations of people.

Shadowheart name as a Selunite now means she accepts the pains of the past and the losses suffered, not seeking to erase them/super impose them as Sharran teachings and techniques do, but to instead embrace what happened, recognize who they are from it but in the path of the light as a Selunite once again. The fact of making the choice to use that name is part of that redemption, as opposed to having it imposed on her for different reasons earlier.

Best then to think on Shadowheart as a 3rd name for herself contextually.

Sometimes it’s about technical limitations. Voice acting, journal entries, UI, etc. which get in the way
