General Consensus - Valeria

So... yeah. Every playthrough I've done, I've saved this damned miniature drunk. Not once did I ever feel good about it. Sure, save a life, blah, blah... it's the morally good thing to do. Objectively. Thing is... Valeria outright admits to framing and doing a lacklustre job, at well... their job. As a follower of Helm no less. Let's take it a tidbit farther... instead of talking to someone actually interested in solving the murders, they go get drunk, and hoist the work off onto someone who CANNOT by their job definition help the people first.

I saved at the trial... did the whole thing... and this being my last run for quite some time... said eh, why not? Let's at least see this thing. Went through the motions, and then gutted the little waste of space. Now... technically, this SHOULD be evil... and I do think it is. However, does it cancel out the liberal arrogance of a drunk half-baked wanna-be detective that does more harm than good due their own laziness?

Boils down to this... what are folks thoughts on knifing the fluttering drunk, vs saving it?

Mechanically I know it means you get access to a merchant and gear you wouldn't otherwise have access to, and that if you don't, you get a small contingent of soldiers for the final fight. As well as some altered dialogue with Orrin by extension. However, I'm not asking mechanical benefits. I'm asking personal opinions.

Well, Valeria has entertainment value. Flatlining the sucker is certainly an option. But it won't do any good for 'the people'.

Flatlining people for 'not doing their job right' is something only an oppressive regime would do - and nobody would want to be detective after you do it. Can't be sure when they'll start falling out of favor for whatever reason with the righteous ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that act on behalf of the 'common good'.

The right thing to do is relegating the sucker into a low-responsibility position and cut his pay to what that's worth. If nothing else helps, exile the fop.

The hollyphant have definitely been corrupted by vice from their stay in Baldurs Gate.

I used to save her all the time but I agree the creature is annoying and pisses me off.

Little did I know that if I kill her I actually get a real reward as opposed to spare her as all of a sudden I get a special vendor that sells an amazing light armor that is like the Elegant studied leather armor but with aura of murder attacked as well as + 2 initiative hood that also gives me see invisible.

While saving the elephant does nothing . Some lackluster bonus in the final battle that I don’t care about . I would be killing her all the time from now on

You can do both, kill Valeria, get items from the vendor then kill serovok. Also even if you become Bhaals chosen by killing Orin and accepting Bhaals gift, if you return to Serovok he will tell you that he will just kill you now and become the new Bhaals chosen so you end up killing his either way

I saved her in my first run (good) and in my current run (evil Dark Urge) I killed her without hesitation! Just did it yesterday!

Also you get approval from Astarion and Minthara for killing Valeria so that’s a nice bonus
