Can't sneak attack with advantage
Is this a bug or is there some other condition going on? When I try to click sneak attack with rogue, it says must have advantage. However, when I click normal attack on same target, it says that I do indeed have an advantage. So why does it not have it when trying to do a sneak attack?

You must be in reach and sneak attack only works once per turn.

These conditions were fulfilled. Sneak attack said disadvantage while normal attack said advantage.

You can reset sneak attacks with invisibility if I'm not wrong.

One thing to note regarding getting sneak attack: You cannot have any disadvantage factors. So even if you would otherwise get advantage, and have a disadvantage condition, it's no sneak attack for you.
Also keep in mind that the sneak attack damage applies automatically if you would qualify for it with a regular attack.

This ^

Even if you would end up with advantage, if there is any disadvantage applying to your roll then Sneak Attack won't work.

Not only that, but you also don't get the benefit of rolling two attack dice and keeping the better roll. If disadvantage and advantage are both present, they cancel out completely.

Being too close (“threatened”) is considered disadvantage for sneak attack as well.

Hm...I know that you can't sneak if you're threatened, but does being threatened mean you can't sneak attack at all? That doesn't seem right...but I might just be not understanding what's happening in the game correctly.

I think it’s logical to assume that if you can’t sneak you can’t sneak attack.

Maybe I’m doing something wrong though.

that's not true at all.

remember, sneak attack at it's most fundamental requires "hiding". IF the enemy can still see you, you can't sneak attack them. advantage/disadvantage all that ♥♥♥♥ is just clouding the issue. you CAN sneak attack while NOT hiding if the enemy isn't looking at you and is surprised (meaning they don't expect to be attacked) but once they're no longer surprised you need to be able to "hide" to be able to sneak attack

ALSO some members of the opposition have "true sight" or the ability to see invisible/hiding things which in turn grants the whole team view of you. You can hide from your target only for someone who has a condition that always sees you to stop you from sneak attacking his teammate. as long as things like a scrying eye are around you'll never be able to sneak attack. so take out the eye first.

As for disadvantage, remember height can be an advantage/disadvantage. If you don't have the right combat feat, meaning not only do you need to be hidden from sight (or surprising) from a foe, but you need to be higher or at least at the same level (unless you have that feat)

Correct. If you are threatened you cannot sneak attack. Disengage, retreat, hide, and sneak again. With the extra bonus action from thief line this is nbd.

That's if you're still using your range weapon, sneak with melee if you're close or get crossbow mastery.

I'm pretty sure you can sneak attack if you have an ally within 5-feet as well regardless if you are threatened or not, which has nothing to do with hiding.

Edit: I just pulled out my 5e player's handbook to reference, and it says you need advantage or an ally within 5-feet. You can't hide if you're "threatened" in BG3 which is a Larian-specific rule (it make sense, it's just not something mentioned in the player's handbook), but hiding isn't the only way to get advantage.

I am not sure if people here completely understood the situation I was in. Some answers were kinda helpful, some were basic mechanics I already knew about. So to clarify: If I highlighted the enemy with a basic attack, it said I would do it with an advantage. That implies that I have an advantage from something, and no disadvantages (as they would cancel out). But if I chose the sneak attack ability, in the same exact position against the same exact enemy with the same weapon, the ability said I can't sneak attack with a disadvantage. Which I very clearly were not supposed to have, as sneak attacking happens with the same rules as normal attack. Only difference comes in how the damage is calculated in certain situations. So I still think this was a bug.

Not a bug, you cant sneak attack if you yourself have disadvantage.
I am reminded of this ring however
