Daylight spell?

So I enter the shadowlands (this is my third playthrough so I've been here twice before) I cast daylight using 1 third level slot. It states that it lasts until next long rest. About a minute later a conversation tag appears above Shadowheart, the daylight spell stops working and all my characters except Shadowheart starts losing health so I cast daylight spell again so that is 2 third level slots used. I talk to Shadowheart and she says something along the lines about being immune to the shadow curse. We walk further on then there is another cut scene where the harpers come into view. The daylight spell again stops working so I have to cast it again meaning all my third level spell slots have gone.

So there's the spell duration out of the window. I know this is probably because of cutscenes occuring and the cutscenes don't contain the daylight spell in use but after the cutscene the spell should still be in use.

I cannot remember this occurring in my first two playthroughs

It's not that hard.

What are you casting it on? I cast it on a party member and it persists just fine. Never had an issue like that, even during cutscenes.

I'm casting it as a sphere. I will try casting it on a party member to see if that works
