Have a warm blanket for a nice post:)
- Rule #1: putting a third locker in every camp in which we transfer our "epic" stuff (the things "that glow" mostly), so that we could easily upgrade our characters without having to cross check each other's inventory "by hand"). We haven't found how to share our lockers so we created a 3rd one (we have to move stuff in every camp "location" that "differs", but that's quite quick).
- Then, rule #2 : every piece of crap to be sold and food must be sent to the camp in each others' personal locker (so we don't have overweighted characters to empty himself before a major battle which would lead to chaotic item organization due to the "emergency" factor).
- Regarding the story, same-o, we set up the rules of "'being good and nice" for this first run, keeping the evil sided one for the second we will do (saving goblins for example will be our next start 1st quest).
- It's like every coop boardgame (pandemic style): we communicate before any major actions instead of frustrating ourselves. We communicate for the best tactical option to make during a battle too (if you play oil + fire magician, you better tell your GF not to go into the brawl first...).
- Fun fact: She'll be made at me for a looooong time because her half-elf has lost an eye to Auntie Ethel (the hag) on my suggestion (I had lost mine with Volo - then got it back clean, she couldn't with the hag - but it was her turn to try if it was possible to get rid of the larvae with the worst NPC's ideas of this act, ahah). So she has the ugliest character in our group now, and she is quite mad at me. Maybe i'll be able to buy an eye in town somewhere but don't spoil me we are just at the end of act 1.
Yeah, normally my husband isn't into these types of games either, but we do both really like DnD table-top and that made things a lot easier to understand and work with initially. He also doesn't like "isometric" games so I made sure to install that camera mod that makes it more like a 3rd-person game.
Aw, that sounds really fun too. I don't think we'd be able to get a 4-person team together, but having played a little bit by myself I can tell it's really different with others. At first I was hesitant and wanted to finish the game myself beforehand, but there's something cool about seeing everything for the first time together too.
Oh yeah, setting some ground rules are important for sure. We figured out early on that sticking together most of the time was the best for us, so we generally don't venture off into new territory without letting the other person know.
Speaking of Volo's eye, my husband had picked up on the internet somewhere that you did benefit if you let him try his surgery so he jumped at the chance. Neither of us knew what was going to happen exactly, and we were both just wincing and laughing and gaping in horror and going "oh dear god!" the whole time, lol.
We both control our companion of choice for romancing purposes, but he's more of a "♥♥♥♥ around and find out" kinda of gamer. This isn't my first run, so seeing him make choices I know would have funny consequences is really entertaining.
Both of us are pretty deliberate with our actions since it's our first time, but I definitely have a bit of that "it's not my solo playthough so I can play a bit more loose" feeling which has gotten us into some...interesting situations. Mostly me playing my Rogue as a bit more mouthy and snarky than I would otherwise, which can piss off some NPCs apparently >.>
We're being relatively thorough but not exactly scraping the map, so I'm pretty excited to go through on my solo playthrough and really dig into things and make different choices.
THAT'S a fun troll move lol.
We really disliked Astarion when we first met him, but I think even my husband is falling in love with him.
Aw, thanks :)
Yeah, my husband isn't a capital "G" gamer really, but he does get into certain games (Skyrim, Spiritfarer, the Zelda series, etc.); BG3 is a bit of an anomaly because we're both D&D nerds, normally our co-op games are more simple than CRPGs, usually a roguelike or something. Recently, I've been replaying the Telltale Sam and Max games and he enjoys watching me putz around while he's crocheting or sculpting.
xD
I grumbled a little at the time but yeah, he's got a good sense of humor ^_^
We got off easy, he's not familiar with the old games and I barely remember the lore, lol
