I'm thinking he's getting spelled to death because he has too many casters in his party.
I always save Orpheus and kill the Emperor. One time I helped the Emperor and allowed him to kill Orpheus, and it made the fight much harder. Like, stupidly harder. I think this is his problem, among others.
When you fight the Emperor, all he does is summon his crappy dream visitor minions. They're trash compared to the enemies that mimic your party when you have the Emperor on your side rather than Orpheus.
Orpheus is also a much better fighter than the Emperor.
This is one of the many non-choices the game has. Siding with the Emperor (at the end, specifically) accomplishes little other than ♥♥♥♥ you over.
You've got to move your characters out of the way of the negation orb before it detonates at the end of each round. It's stupid how you can't really see the explosion radius clearly, but if you look closely, you can see what platforms are highlighted and will be destroyed when the orb detonates.
Also, each character within range of the orb will have it listed under their 'conditions' when you examine them. When you move them out of range of the explosion, the condition will be removed from them.
Best thing to do is send in at least one melee fighter to get close to the orb, then spread out your other ranged party members. One orb will not destroy all the platforms within melee range of the brain, meaning that you have at least 2-3 turns to melee it before all nearby platforms are destroyed.
It's imperative to have potions or scrolls of flight or misty step, and haste, on all party members for this last fight--if you want to make it much more manageable.
We can't expect everybody to be that well-optimized. The point is that getting mimic'ed when you have too many casters in your party is probably going to end badly if you don't have any high-damage archers or melee specialists to quickly take priority targets down.
The fact that he even needed to summon allies on the previous fight means he's not doing a lot of damage.
Yeah, honestly, Disintegration is a mediocre spell and not worth it.
Hard fact OP can't accept : for most players the endfight is easy, even on tactician.
Yeah, but I do sympathize because I feel that depending on which path you take, one fight is much harder than the other. Even if his party composition and individual builds are weak, it's not fair of the game to do that.
Um, something else that's really helpful for the end fight that I forgot to mention earlier: arrows of transposition. Should be available at a few shops, enough to equip at least 2 per character in a 4-person group. These will allow huge mobility gains with zero drawbacks. Just be sure to give everyone a bow of any kind to use them.
I think the main problem may be me using two wizards which I have no choice in changing because my main character is a wizard but doesn't have DOI but Gale does (if I do the DOI approach)
I remember one person saying to quit and play something else but that is not an option. I need to finish this game because I have played since day 1 of EA. So that leaves 2 options:
Persevere as I have got to the brain before
Give up my 4th unfinished playthrough and start again (just in case ppl are wondering why so many unfinished playthroughs. first - going through game too quick so a boss fight in act 2 was too hard as I was only level 6 when I should have been around lvl 9. 2nd - used mod that done unexpected things to game. 3rd - Didn't like the character I was playing. 4th - Current playthrough. I never used Gale very much as my main is a wizard which is probably my down fall. I started using him from House of Grief.
He's made it through the entire game. He must be reasonably proficient and equipped.
There is no reason anyone who has made it this far cannot beat the end fight. It's not that hard.
Balanced
12
Couldn't find their DC but Gale is 11 AC and Main is 12
Shadowheart is default (I will change this in next playthrough)
Asterion has a Fabricated Arbalast. He is Rogue/Fighter with 20 AC
I am kind of thinking that maybe a playthrough 5 might be in order. I will have a few more attempts where I am at now before doing so.
All these ppl who have superb gear, surely they didn't aquire this by pot luck. Surely it was found through back up reading. Such as that guy that killed all the enemy by turn 1, surely he didn't create such a powerful party by pot luck.
You don't need to read up to end the game laden with powerful gear (it helps of course), but you do need to spend time exploring and completing quests.
