What happens if i never recruit shadowheart?

Lets say i never recruit her or take the artifact from her. How far will i get?

My guess is you will eventually get the Prism from somewhere. Shadowheart is not really directly connected to that story line. Hers is a completely different story thread.

Because you DO get it. I just don't know how exactly. I do know that it got transferred to me from Shadowheart and could not give it back to her. She really has nothing to do with the main quest line.

She'll show up out of thin air, but prior to that from a story point of view the player should've been at minimum be having massive issues and hearing things, or be controlled.... video game deus ex machina.

Game gives you the freedom to beat it while wielding a sausage the entire game, but very limited story freedom.

Cannot say for sure as I have Shadowheart. But the Prism is central to the Main Story Line, so you will get it. All you will miss out on by not having Shadowheart active is her specific story line quest. Which is a very interesting one and worth having her along for, in my opinion.

I perma-killed Laezel, Shadowheart and Karlach (without ANY chance to resurrect them) in my most recent playthrough. Laezel and Shadowheart back on Nautiloid before i recruited them. Karlach right after i committed a massacre in the druid grove - she was not pleased with my actions and attacked me on sight. This will not impact your ability to play and finish the game.

You will get the artifact right after you land on the beach after Nautiloid crash.
There is even a unique cutscene (i think it's unique... maybe not..) of you getting the artifact this way

But there is also the option of not releasing her, and thereafter not recruiting her. How do you get the prism then?

Shadowheart will be around. Found in the druid grove. The less you give the more she gives.
