Fighter/Bard multiclass over regular Bard?
Finally i rolled Fighter instead of Paladin but since i really like Bard i think after lvl 6 of Fighter I will go Valour Bard 5 levels in tank role.

But I assume game treats my main still as Fighter and I will get no Bard convo options. Looking at bard spells there is nothing really good after lvl 2-3 anyway and I wont be landing offensive spells with 12 CHA.

You'll get both convo options. There's no real upside to blending Fighter and Bard unless you want to give your Bard a fighting style and action surge. 2/3 Bards already get an extra attack per action at level 6 and going Fighter heavy just dilutes their casting. Fighters lose their 3rd attack per action and don't gain much in return.

2 Pally levels for Smites, 5 PotB Warlock levels for a 3rd attack per action and charisma as your only stat are good choices for a melee bard. Conversely, Bard is good choice if you want add some martial prowess to another full caster, since you don't lose any spell slots.

Thanks - I wanted a tank in heavy armor and fast 2 feats upfront - I agree that I will miss another attack in lvl 11 but this comes so late.

I tried regular bard but it felt so weak to enemy damage, Laz and SH really cannot tank and it is better hide SH somewhere to not lose conc checks instead of exposing her in frontlines.

There's no tank in dnd since there's no taunting mechanic so basically the so called "tank" is useless, put one of your character in sh1tload of armor you can have and the enemy will target your spellcaster. The solution is to give them all highest AC as much as you can. Mirror image, shield, etc and positioning them at safe position

tank is just a character that's build to take damage... and that is definitely a thing in dnd ... Taunting got nothing to do with it, not to mention there is taunt in game.

I played a Fighter 2 / Bard 10. With action surge bard becomes even better. Being able to have an extra action instead of an extra attack makes Bard more flexible than people who focus only on extra attack.

I just hide everybody and open up with "tank" so that others are out of sight - I guess there will be cases when you cannot do that. I just found out hard way that when You open with your sneak attackers/casters they will be killed, so i sneak with my tank, draw aggro and join with others after some enemy actions.

Before i just tried move with the group and yes AI aggrod weakest members on sight. so i place them out of sight. But for that i need a tank to draw aggro and no existing companion is suitable for it
