BG3 Won't Run on my New PC
I so desperately want to play Baldur’s Gate 3 but it refuses to run smoothly on my computer. My specs are:

AMD Ryzen 7 5700 3.7 GHz
16GB Ram
RTX 3070
1TB SSD

The issues I have are constant frame rate drops and stuttery, static audio. When I first boot up the game it will run well for maybe 10 minutes before the performance issues are so bad I can’t play it. I’ve tried:

Updating my drivers
Changing video settings
Changing audio settings in windows
Reinstalling the game
Playing in windowed mode
Launching straight from steam and skipping launcher

What can I possibly do to play this game? I’ve seen a lot of people saying it runs on bad hardware, but my computer is less than a year old and cannot handle it. It plays other games just fine.

Yes. Something else is going on. I run this on an 11 year old i5-2500 CPU and was using a GTX 1650 Super. Ran fine at low settings. Upgraded to a 4060 and it runs even better now.

I am playing on a 1080p system. If you are playing on a 1440p system, that 3070 may not be good enough. If playing 1440p, have you tried enabling DLSS to see if that helps?

Most likely bad settings of your operating system.
Anyroads. No DxDiag report, no assist.

Yes I did, Vulkan seemed to make it worse.

Nothing changed. I sat down to play the game like I had every time, and once I got into the grove it's been like this. Going back to the beginning areas doesn't help this.

What are those?

how about other games, normal for you?
have you ruled out hardware issue? e.g. this game works the CPU and GPU really hard, if you have a weak/faulty PSU, things you mentioned could happen

you might also want to consider submitting an official support request and send them your game logs

I am going to guess very bad ram settings/speeds.

i do remember having stuttery audio a few years ago and i just solved it with an external soundcard (focusrite) never had the problem again....nvidia audio aint the greatest.no idea
if this solves anything for you and it will cost so try as a last resort ...if the problem starts after a certain time it could also be a throttling/cooling issue.check cpu/gpu temps .u say new pc but in a year depending on hygiene some dust may be collected especialy on the more ventilated cases did u ever clean ur coolers/pc from the inside?.a rug growing on ur mobo? clean it.especially if u smoke dust will come in and stick on everything ..having 2 sticks of ram is always faster then 1 stick of ram , make sure they are paired.aka in opposing slots .running 2x 8 gb ram on 2 channels is faster then 16 gb on 1 channel . i have a 4070 ti recently but it ran fine on a 3060 at 4 k medium ish settings so that should be fine....
i guesstimate you should have a 650 to 750 watt psu or so ....less can get hairy

edit :should also change the title from wont run to wont run smoothly lol.... its a different thing :p
